Head Unit Question

hey guys, i found someone that wants to buy my 9833

i was wondering if any of these head units are better than the alpine

Nak CD400
Eclipse 5444
Clarion 745/945

also, is the.......DRZ9255 worth the price? ($700+)

I seen a review on the CD-400 ....... it is an awesome sounding unit but has 2 major drawbacks (for most people). It is a single disc player with no hookup for a changer and it doesn't play MP3's.

heh the changer is ok, as for the mp3 problem? i actually emailed nakamichi, they gave me a contact in canada where i can buy the CD500!!! as soon as i find out how much it cost, i.. might buy it, because what im looking for is..

great sounding, no frills display, basic features, mp3

the nak (when in comparison to the clarion 845 / alpine 9833 / eclipse 5444) is lacking like crazy, but i'll try it out, just gotta call them

im probably going to also get an eq from audiocontrol, or any other eq u guys can recommend

I prefer a head unit that isn't so "busy" ......... tons of little buttons and sub-menus that you can hardly figure out when the car is stationary - much less, moving.

I prefer to run all my speakers off a 4 channel amp. as long as a deck has 4 volt F/R/Sub pre outs, then it works for me.. only if it looks good too.

yea same here, with both the pioneer 860 and the alpine i have now both are/were such a hassle when i want to change settings, really distracts me

are there any in dash eq's/crossovers anyone can recommend to me? right now just off the top of my head im thinkin audiocontrol, or tru tech

it has lowpass, which is the cutoff for the subwoofer, and the subsonic filter?

then bandpass, im guessing its for a mid or midbass driver that you have right? and it goes from. for example 800-50hz depending on how you set it?

then high pass is for highs

and for the gains, if you already have the gains set on your amp, how would u need to set these gains?

the for the input gain, is it just + volume by db?

you don't start setting the gains at the amp, that's where you FINISH. You go from deck to EQ to xover to amp(s). Then you can give the amp a good twist clockwise, since you won't use that much headroom 99% of he time. The problem with setting the amp to clipping level at the same point as all the other components is you will lose a fair amout of volume (10-20 dB).
