... Nissan utilized the VG30DE (Naturally Aspirated version) and VG30DETT (Twin Turbo version) in their Zed32 300ZedX's. Zed32 is 1990-1996 (USDM) and 1989-1999 in Japan.

These engines were 3.0liter, DOHC (Dual Over Head Camshafts) ECCS (Electronic Concentrate Control System) controlled Twin Turbo engines, that pushed 300bhp stock in the US. And 276bhp stock in the Japanese versions. (That little bit of writting explains the code of Nissan engines... Liter size, and what DETT stands for... Hence VG30DETT. Also any Nissan engine code that starts with V, is indicitive of the alignment of the engine... Being a 'V' engine)

Although the JDM version had less horsepower, the reason was because of smaller turbos, thus less lag, thus a much quicked car. So if one was to road course test a USDM and JDM ZedX Twin Turbo... They would probably swear up and down that the JDM version is faster... Which it is in some aspects.

But in flat out top speed action, the USDM Zed would dominate. Zgringo can vouch for that

But as for you saying there is a VG30DETT in the JGTC 350Zed... That is VERY untrue.

The VG engine has been obsolete for years now, and has since been replaced with the VQ. The primary differences being the weight issue... VG was a Cast Iron block engine... And VQ being a very light weight aluminum block engine. And plus, the VQ is very much more efficient. And much easier to work on... The VG is hell, absolute hell to work on.

VQ has been around for years though... In early Glorias, Cefiros A32-A33, USDM Maxima... In single turbo version, twin turbo version and N/A versions with the normal 10.5:1 compression ratio.

VQ has taken over all Nissan road cars though... Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder, 350Zed, G35, A33 I35... Almost every Nissan/Infiniti vehicle has the VQ. For the exception of Titan/Armada which has a nice little VK56DE in it, and the Infiniti M45 with the VK45DE, etc etc.

So it would be quite contridicting of Nissans ways to slap an obsolete engine into a brand new race car, now wouldnt it?

I think you've got your facts a little twisted... No big deal, thats why these forums exist.

...

Ok dude... You didnt even know what car the VG went in, and that the VG isnt new by anymeans... And after that novel I wrote trying to explain to why they wouldnt use a VG, you still say your right?

If you prove me right, then I am going to be simply disgusted with Nissan, and how they are taking steps back.

You shouldn't base your 'facts' out of dim-witted magazines you read, kiddo... the new JGTC Z has a VQ plain and simple! I'll even take pix of it when I'm at JGTC this weekend at Fontana...

listen to your elders buddy...nissan did NOT put the VG30DETT into the JGTC 350z...they used the VQ, plain and simple. the VG30DETT was used in the 300zx starting in 1989...thats 15 years old. the last time nissan used the VG series engines was in the frontier but the VG30DE(TT) is done, stop and think!!!

i know some of the codes but what are all for nissan, I know like the rb26dett and some other but i want to know them all and what they go in.

what cars do you want to know???

the most popular skylines (R32,33, and 34) came with a variety of RB series engines.

RB20DET came in the R32 GT-S
RB25DET came in the R33 and R34? GT-S
RB26DETT came in all the GT-R's

VG30DE(TT) came in the 90-96 300zx
VG30E(T) came in the 84-89 300zx

240sx came with KA24(D)E
180sx (same as 240sx but only offered to japan) came with the CA18DET and the SR20DET

those are the most popular nissan's and their engine codes. i had a website that listed all of the engines and the cars they came in along with specs. ill look for it...

EDIT: Here is the website I described above!!! (http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/3823/engines.html)

There... Was that so painful?

O and dog soldier... Here is a little break down of Nissans engine codes.

Lets say... RB26DETT for example:

RB - Factory code rumored to stand for Racing Built/Breed
26 - 2598cc
D - DOHC (Dual Over Head Camshafts)
E - ECCS (Electronic Concentrate Control System)
T - Twin
T - Turbochargers

And like I said above... Any Nissan engine that starts with 'V' is in fact... a 'V' aligned engine... VK56DE, VH45DE, VG30DE, VQ35DE... Etc etc.

So its pretty simple to break down once you get it. Just thought I would throw that useful bit of information in.

^^^^ Ehhh... goes to show how much you know, Mr. Nissan! Those are 350Z's (Z33, Fairlady's) running in the SUPER GT (no longer JGTC BTW...) not 300ZX's (Z32, Fairlady's)!

Ok... First... if you have a 240Z... you don't have a L28E, you have an L24E (unless you dropped an L28E into it, or you just don't know what kind of Datsun you really have) Second... which was it? an L28E or an L28ET? I mean, there's kind of a big difference there... Second... you didn't just bore it out to a L31DE, you may have stroked and bored it, okay, I'll buy that. Third, there is no way you're wiping the floors with any car in a heavy, steel-construct Datsun Z using an old, L-series pushrod I-6 unless you're pushing a lot of Nitrous through it... the L28ET only made 180hp... I mean come on, get serious, you're maybe, MAYBE, straddling the 200hp line? Low 200's? The only thing you're wiping the streets with the way you described your engine setup is a Geo Metro, get with the times and give your beautiful old Datsun the power it really needs, get yourself a new engine, forget that antique L-series.
