ingnition stuck

My 89' Toy. pick-up won't start due to the fact that the switch itself is stuck and won't allow the key to turn it. I was wondering if I could take the mod. off the back of the switch and use a screw driver or something to turn the mod. by hand or would I have to run a hot-wire from one wire point to another. If I need to run the hot-wire what two wire points of the six on the mod. do I have to touch together. Also do I need to do anything special besides touch them or do I have to tap it like hotwiring is done in the movies.

Is it the lock tumbler or the switch stuck? A wiring diagram will show you what wires need to be connected (it maybe more than two). Start position is momentary (just touching together) contact to start the vehicle. On position is what needs to be connected so the vehicle will run after starting.

man spray some wd40 into the key hole, i had this prob with my 91 accord...also make sure the steering is not locked
