I just went to the LHS and he had Alclad II Chrome for Lexan in a Spray can!!!! i cant find it anywhere on the Alclad website. will it work on plastic models as well? do you apply it the same as regular Alclad. the reason im so excited is because i moved recently and i havent a proper place for using my airbrush yet so ive been having to can spray every thing and this Chrome would help me finish a few projects. ive been waiting till i have money for a good spray booth. please help thanks!

No it will not work. Lexan and polystyrene are two different plastics. The processes for applying and adhering are different. It rubs right off of polystyrene.

yeah but Mike i was thinking i would have to prime the part first with Tamiya grey. then i would paint with Tamiya gloss black and then Chrome. So i guess im wondering if the paint for Lexan would be compatible with laquer, or for that matter even enamel like Testors which is recommended by Alclad. or does any one know were on Alclads site is info on this stuff. thanks though cus i didnt know lexan was that different.

When painting lexan you apply it to the inside, so it doesnt go through the same process. I had a friend that tried it, never worked. Im sure if you search here you could find out they got the same results.

I think it works on lexan because you spray it on the inside of the RC body, and therefore you get a smooth, glossy surface without even trying. I would think that the Alclad is formulated differently to do that than it is to level on the outside of a surface.

I've seen a few of these threads pop up, how about emailing Alclad and then telling us what they say if they respond? I'd do it but I am rather lazy now that finals are over.

Sorry ive been search for an hour. i try and not thread unless im stumped. in fact i rarely thread so ive looked just thought some one might have a link to how this Alclad works different from other bottle Alcad is all. and Alclad recommends there Clear Laquer for RC cars on there site but these same Clears work for models as well. im confused i guess. looking for technical answer or solution is all.
