on the way home from work fri i noticed i threw a couple of belts.long story short got to looking and i noticed my crankshaft pulley was moving 1/4 to 3/8 in and out .put a socket on the bolt and it seemed tight. any idea,s? and wich way does the bolt go to loosen? thanks to all

sorry let me say moving out or away from the motor it does not move in just out.

Sorry to say, but I think the thrust bearing, at the rear of the engine is shot. Expensive fix...read.(engine rebuild). take to toyota shop mechanic. they are very reliable, and honest. thet usually don't recomend repairs you don't need. Later... Mark.

the crank does not seem to move just the pulley. it will move forward enough to spin freely the pulley that is. wondering if there is an exploded view of at assembly on the net . which way does the nut need to go to remove the crank pulley? is that bearing you mentioned a common problem? thanks again

replaced crank pulley and everything is ok
