Looking for LCD Ideas on 2 Door with Sunroof

I have a 2000 LS 2 Door with the factory sunroof. Been looking for ideas on where to mount an LCD unit so the kids can see it from the back. We use the truck for 2-3 hour drives to the cottage on weekends and they get a little restless. I think I'm SOL mounting it to the headliner since I have the retractable sunroof, but any ideas/pics anyone has would be great. Maybe the back of the headrests, but would like to see pics if anyone has done it.

You can get a ceiling mounts LCD display that will fix behind the sunroof on the ceiling. They will often flip down more than 90 degrees so you can adjust it to face down to the rear passengers.

I've been looking at the Canadian Tire ceiling mount units. The problem is my sunroof retracts back into the roof. I don't think there is anything for the console to secure to other than the cardboard headliner and if I got too far with the screws it will obstruct the sunroof, I think.

Hmmm....

Good point.

What about buying one of those handheld DVD players at Costco.

They can hold it in their hands and watch a movie.

That would be a last resort. I wanted something with a clean out of the way look that I didn't need to worry about. I have let them use my laptop a few times but I cringe everytime they are watching and then drop it on the floor. I'm guessing I will need to look at possibly doing headrest mods, but will need to pull off the seat covers to see how much room there is in there to work with.

I think you are SOL on this. I would not invest the 1000 dollar investment into LCD screens in the back of the seats for movie viewing.

hahaha, They aren't that expensive if you get them off ebay... I don't know how you feel about buying online, but it seems like there are quite a few reputable wholesalers out there. A 7" TFT monitor usually only runs you 150 bucks. The dvd/mp3/vcd/cd players are only 80 bucks too. 2 Monitors, 1 sweet dvd player (online deals come with all the cables) $380 + s/h. -> Not bad for what you get.

I have been looking at a DVD player that RCA makes. I have read good reviews on it. Comes with a car adapter that includes a mount to attach to headrest. Down fall is that the price is around $300.00 retail. I have seen some go on Ebay for just over $200.00. I plan on getting one soon to keep my son occupied.

I would like to put it in the head unit, but my kids are still in booster seats, maybe for a while now given Ontario law and they need to lean over uncomfortably to see the deck. I see many LCD's on ebay, but it is hard to determine which brands can actually be used to install in the headrest and which ones attach to the headrest. Want something that will give a professional look.

Is it legal to put dvd lcd screens in the drivers area? I know some cars come with the screens in the dash factory (for navigation purposes I suppose), but is it legal to have dvd's playing in the front?

I live in ct and they are legal here, i am asuming it would be state to state. last night i bought 2 more tft/lcd displays, i got a guy installing them for me into the head rest of the back seats, he's charging me 3 hundred to do it so i thought that was worth it, the displays run in the $700 range ea.

Geez, how large are the displays?

I'm from NY and they're pretty strict about everything there.

You should get the kind that is like a backpack. You just strap it to the front seats like a backpack and the kids can watch it. They are pretty cheap. You can look on JCWhitney or even circuit city.
