so I decided to replace my cap and rotor cuz it was missing a screw and with all the rain here it ran like sht sometimes
well the cap came off ez enuff
but when I try to remove the rotor...the screww comes out with alittle effort and when I try to remove the dang rotor it wont move.....I pull harder , it still wont move....Ipull harder,it still wont move.... I pull even harder....the rotor BREAKS!
apparently the thing got rusted on with the moisture that intruded
so now I have the slug from the rotor stuk on the distributor shaft and my recently revived CRX is once again imobile. :crying: :crying: :crying:
does anyone have any tricks to get this of my shaft?

Spray it with some PB Blaster and tap on it with a hammer.

I think that the part he is talking about is that pot metal under the plastic rotor part that the screw seats in.
You should just soak your shaft with some penetrating oil and whack it off....
Sorry couldnt help myself....

Thanks for the laff
it has been soaking and I still cant get it off
but seriously folks........
the angle is all wrong to hit it in the direction it needs to go
I have been hammerin and hammerin....
I put pliers on it and yank and yank
try as I might...it just wont jerk off :shakehead
have you guys heard of anyone ending up replacing the distrib from this?

Have you tried a slide hammer?
The real issue is that if you wack it too much it will ruin the bearings.
I would try a dremmel with a cutoff wheel
Be very careful! Try not to cut the shaft too much.
Cut the sides and top and use a screwdriver to pry it apart

yeah try cutting it off with a cutoff wheel. If you have a torch you could heat it.. but that would probly cause more problems...

I dont think that a torch will be good near all that electrical stuff...
Also too much heat will also ruin the bearings.

yeah thats why I said it might cause more problems. If you have a nut splitter you could try that, it would probably work, just make sure you dont tighten it tight enough to go into the shaft.
This has got to be the most erotic car thread on this forum without it even meaning to be.

Nutsplitters are a pain on the hands..
Though you could work it better then the dremmel unless you have a flex shaft...
I really want to keep it clean, but it is really hard..
I blame aal avatar :)

I am gonna get a pulley puller and slowly crank down on that shaft till it pops off

I had to remove the coil for access, but
after 1.5 hrs of sawing with a hacksaw blade
and a little hammering
it was able to be forced off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:grinyes: :grinyes: :grinyes:
now I have metal filings everywhere
do I need to get all of them out or just the big piles
I I have to get all of them out I am not sure how I could go about that,
they are held inplace by the magnets and I dont have a compressor
