Red Neutral Light On

I have a 2001 Jimmy with electronic 4 X 4, including the "Auto-4WD" button. After a messy ice-storm a couple days ago, I've been using 4-Hi on and off.

Tonight when switching from 2-Hi to 4-Hi, the little red "Neutral" light came on. When I switch back to 2-Hi or Auto-4WD, the neutral light stays lit, but very dimly. (I only noticed it because it was dark out. In the daytime, I probably wouldn't have noticed it.) Switching back to 4WD, either Hi or Lo, the Neutral light comes on brightly and stays on along with the appropriate yellow button indicator light.

According to the manual, the light is supposed to indicate that the vehicle & transfer case have been properly set to neutral in order to tow it. All 4 settings (Auto, 2-Hi, 4-Hi, and 4-Lo) seem to be working perfectly.

Any suggestions as to what might be making the neutral light come on?
