Current state of Popular Music? :dunno:

Music is the the worst possable form in entertainment. It is mind numbing noise braught on by misconceptions, faulse emotions, and many other things. It is put on by people who had no talent and should be shot on sight.

i would have to disagree, for some people, music is the only thing that gets them thru life. Im kinda like that. i mean people say rappers (eminem comes to mind) influences kids to kill others, and rape thier mom and such; on the contrary, others say music doesnt influence how a person. thinks.... to me both are tragically wrong. I believe that music does influence feelings, however, not to the extent of commiting violence without having to be mentally ill first. i mean, when im sad... slow music usually makes me feel better... a nice tight beat usually starts the day out right.... country music tends to make people depressed...lol... I could basically make a soundtrack of my day...everyday.

About them having no talent.... ok they may not be musically inclined, or even know what a stanza is, but what truly matters is they can make a person change for the better.... make a sad person happy.... a lonley person not as lonley...a mad person calm....etc. coming from a musicians point of view....as long as i make at least one person's day, im happy.... music in general doubles as entertainment, AND therapy...

Music does influience people to kill and rape there mothers, and more offten than not kill and rape there mothers at the same time. If you would take the time to read the Carson vs. Malony 1973 case in with a little body listend to the Beatles the first time then went on a killing spree targeting only blond hair girls in bikini's you would see my point. All music is bad no matter what kind, who sings it, or what period of time it is from. It all makes people kill and rape there mothers.

it isnt the music alone that does it...its when it makes these people (who already have something wrong...) find someone who thinks the same way they do... or to be pretending... as far as music is concerned, movies should be more of a concern... hearing alone is alot better than visual and hearing...

These inocent people have nothing wrong with them and the music makes them kill people. Without music there would be not deaths due to murder. Movies have absolutly nothing to do with the way a person thinks or acts, unless the movie has music in it.

I feel that music has to do with emotions. The emotion of the creators and listeners. Music can take all forms, commonly refered to genres. Music can definently manipulate people's emotions into feeling something they hadn't previously felt. This can be both negative and positive. There are loud heavy grinding music that can cause someone who is in a chearful or sad mood to become angry or feel aggression. Yet there is slow mellow music that can cause an angry person to calm down or a sad person to become depressed furthur. As for music being the cause of murder, rapeing your mother; I don't feel it can be blamed on music alone. Music is a form of entertainment and art. If art was to blame for these things as well, then why haven't we all heard of someone killing their father and marrying their mother after reading Othello? Music can also be misinterpreted (sp?) in many ways. Even with the lyrics enclosed with every CD, there is still room to interpretation. As an example I'll use the song Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath. There were 2 interpretations on the topic of the song; 1 being about marijuana, the other about homosexuality. Such as the lyrics "straight people don't know, what you're about." Now that could either mean straight as in heterosexual or "straight laced" as in someone who doesn't partake in drug and alcohol use. For in a song talking about killing someone, there is no way to know how the composer ment it to mean. It could mean litterly kill someone or it could be tounge in cheek. Another simple example of how music could go either way, bad or good; is the Pied Pipper. On one hand he led the rats from the streets which was a good thing and cleared up the rat infestation. However when he wasn't payed to his liking, he led the rats back into the city and caused chaos, being obviously bad. It depends on the situation and how the artist is showing their vision. Plus music is cool when you're tripping on LSD and can see spirals on the walls and in your head along with the music; so how can that mean music's bad?

lol I'm out. I like music too much to try to debate against it. And I thought I could argue anything.

I'm for against porn. With pornography around, you see everything. Every position and everything that can possibly be done with a human body. It takes away from the creativity of figuring out things to do, that's half the fun. Watching a porno decensitizes you from things. How many men out there can really last 20-30 minutes in bed? I mean sure it's clearly very possible to last even longer than that, but it's a fact that most men can only last between 10-15 minutes. So if a woman watched pornography, she will assume that all guys are supermen and can hold out for as long as they'd like. And before pornography became mainstream, bisexuality or homosexuality was seen as taboo. Now what straight guy doesn't like to see 2 lesbians go at it? Also pronography can corrupt youth. Imagine some little kid getting his hands on a porno movie and completely blowing his mind. He will be scared for the rest of his life and be desensitized before even having his first sexual encounter. And with porno magazines such as Hustler or playboy, it objectifies women. The magazines are literally for just staring at womens bodies and treating them as objects of the sexual nature. Also porno movies are the cause of sexual assults on women. After being desensitized by watching them, some men start assuming that all women are easy. So in real life if a women doesn't "put out", some men will force a woman to; all because a porno told them that women like being taken advantage of and used as a piece of meat. Pornography is bad, it is a horrible sin...

yes.. it is wrong for young kids to see it....if a person cant make thier own moves they seen them all on tv....they prolly wont ever get to use them...

i can kind of see ur point on the rape thing....but it would never be BECAUSE of porn....maybe just a combination of other things coupled with porn...

It may expose you to alot, but in a way isnt it educational. It teaches you so that when you get the oppertunity to try out those positions and techniques you can do them correctly. It gives you a goal to obtain on how long you can last. And the more you masterbate the less sperm you have to make a girl pregant, if everyone had access to porn maby the overpopulation would start to reverse itself.

what the funk. i take both sides. what's going wrong with this world. i understand that its a good way to learn to be able to perfect positions and stuff like that, but if you watch it all the time, it'll mess with your mind. i'm assuming that's why rape is big because guys truly want to go and take advantage of a girl because he thinks that she'll give out. blah, blah, blah. porn is good if you cant find a significant other, but if its over-watched, it'll totally fuck up the whole human race.

I'm kinda mixed on this subject. I'v normally lived by the rule not to judge people by what they have done in the past, as everyone has done stuff they regret and people do change. However I also have a very close friend that was raped and it took several years before she even started acting like her old self again and she is still not the same and never will be. I think rape has a bigger impact on someones lifes than a person close to them being murdered does.

Yes they definently should be put to death. If not then at least they should be chemically castrated. It kills their testosterone level, so they can't get an erection and lose all aggression. I had a girlfriend who did a paper on it in high school, but that was 5 years ago so I don't remember too much of what she told me about it. But I do understand what you're saying about not judging people by things they've done in the past. But I think something like that is one of the few exceptions, my personal belief.

The thing about chemical castration is that it can be reversed by taking viagra and alike. I saw a big thing about it on something a while back. It was showing these men who were undergoing chemical castration because of child molestation but they would get ahold of viagra and it pretty much just took care of that. I have a hard time giving the death penalty to any one. I dont know I dont really think its nessaceraly (wow thats spelt bad) wrong, but its more of the fact who are we to judge someone, how do we know without a shaddow of dought that this person is guilty. There have been several cases here the last few years were people on death row were released free because DNA proved they did not do it, of course this is after they had sit in prison for 20+ years. But then I look at the other side and see how much pain and suffering the victoms and families have went though and they need closure. I dont know, I'm torn on this subject, I dont know witch way to go.

I dont think it will happen not because it is proved safter than cigarettes or tax reasons. It wont ever be legal becasue the goverment has too big of an ego and tehy have been telling people its bad and forcing major communication companies to braudcast anti drug messages and such.

i dont do pot bc i dont like it, but i was gonna patch a tire on an explorer today and kept gettin whiffs of the raw unburnt smell like everyonce in a while when i was by it. it was really wierd. I looked for it but couldnt find it.

oh yeha and about porn. the only kind i like watching is when a girl is masterbating. i hate lesbians bc i know i wont get it. and i really dont wanna see a guy getting what i want. sorry im not debating, just wanted to voice my opinion.

Alright... the war on drugs is a war the government can't win. It's like the prohibition, they banned alcohol yet people started making it "underground". There will always be drugs no matter if they're legal or not, especially pot. It's a weed and can grow in many different environment conditions. Hell they grow some of the strongest stuff up in British Columbia, which is way up north and cold. Most people get caught growing, because they either get seen going to the pot if it's grown outside, or the electric company turns them in, or the government files over with heat sensitive cameras and sees the heat output from the lights that are used. It's easy to get caught, that's why I say if you're going to grow then only grow 1 plant at a time. In that case if you get caught the most you'll get is a $125 fine (here in the US) and they will take your plant. No jail time, jsut a slap on the wrist and wallet. Imagine all the $ wasted by the government to to spend on getting rid of marijuana over the past 2 decades alone. It's had to have cost the government (and tax payers) BILLIONS of dollars. Where if they made it legal and taxed it, they'd get that $ back within 5 years.
This reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer gets high because the crows claw his eyes. And when the cops burn all the pot, people gather around and then they throw cut hair on it...hilarious.

The reason they use heat sensative equipment is because it grows at a higher tempature than most all other plants. This technology is pretty much useless where I live because people grow oakra in this area and grows at the same tempature so if they do fly overs its like huge blocks of heat everywhere. This was a big news story here a few years ago when they were attempting to start doing fly overs here and canceled the program after just a few runs because it was going to be too much trouble to try to sepearte the crops from the weed. Meth has become alot bigger problem in this area so there is very little if any crack down on weed any more besides finding it on someone randomly in a rutine trafic stop or something alone those lines.
