Turbo Or Swap

Actually, the title is misleading, either way a swap is necessary...anyways

Right now i have a 1.5l dx engine, with i/h/e and it's just not doing it for me like it used to ... so, here are the two options for june...

A) Swap in a 1.6l Ex engine, 125ish-hp, then put on a greddy turbo (this is a daily driver)

B) Swap in a 1.6l B16a (ob1, my car is a 95 by the way) and just do i/h/e...

I figure they'll end up running about the same amount of money...correct me if i'm wrong...what do you think will be the best bang for the buck, keeping reliabilty in mind, due to the fact it is a daily driver, with street racing in mind (i'm not really a street racer, but i woin't go to the track just rippin' around town)

tHANKS A LOT

Uhhhhh, you actually put I/H/E on a 1.5l motor? WHY?

the intake was free, the header was 100$ and the exhaust can be hooked up to what ever i get next...i think anyone woulda done the same hehe...at the time i did all this...it was an automatic too hHAHahah.

the b16a, 160hp, cai/h/e, maybe 180hp at the crank? why not go for the d16z6 with a turbo?

Thanks

If you're gonna swap, swap big...

Frankly, "There is no replacement for displacement."

I say... B20 + turbo.

Of the 2 choices, I'd go the B16 route but, w/ more mods...

I have a D16Z6, and I sure as hell would choose the B16 anyday. You can go way further with the B in the future then you really can with the D. So go with the B and eventually you can go turbo.

you can go pretty far on a d15. some guy runs 11's all motor d15.look at sport compact car, march 2002. anyways just get a naturally aspirated b16a. aluminum block+turbo= reliability issues. most guys who turbo hondas can afford to replace screwed blocks and heads. youre talking about credit. you want your shit to atleast last a longer time than it takes to pay it off, correct? all motor. another thing, when turboing a honda, you need low compression pistons, sleeves, larger injectors, fuel rail, boost management system-that list goes on and on.
that, as well as the turbo adds a tremendous amount of $$$$$. your choice,pal-but im givin my thoughts

Yeah, i think i'll go for either the Civic SiR b16, or the Integra GSR engine...keep it n/a, cai/h/e, maybe cams and cam gears....any thoughts on that? i think it'd be pretty bad ass, while still keeping the reliabilty and ability to use pump gas. Let me know.

the turbo on the d16z6? what kind of power would i get though? i wouldn't come close to the gsr or sir with cai/h/e, cam/gears...also, the turbo would make it unreliable would it not? let me know

If you leave it the way you said; D16 with turbo, or B16 with i/h/e...Id say go with the turbo D. But, if you do not think the madness will stop there, you're highest potential is naturally going to lie with the B16, so go with that. Even a GReddy kit with no intercooler and running 5psi is probably going to put more power to the ground than a stock B16 (USDM that is). Its all about just how much power you want, and just how much you want to spend.
