In the near future, i may sell my v6 camaro for a z28. However, i know i can't get any size v8 (parents rules). My friend told me my parents would prob let me get a small-block z28 (he said that z28's came in many diffrent engine packages). What 4th gen year Camaros have a small-block v8?

All z28 Camaros from 1993-02 came with a small block v8. The 93-97 Camaros came with the LT1 5.7liter small block. The 98-02 came with the awesome LS1 5.7 liter all aluminum small block chevy. Z28 camaros never came a motor bigger then those and only used small block chevys. From 82-92 the Z28s all or most came with the 305ci SBC (5.0 liters). The IROC Z Camaros from 87-92 are all that came with the 5.7 liter.

dunno what your friend is talking about with many different engine packages. Z28 has always been a sbc V8. 302 in the first gen, 350 in the second, 350 and 305 in the third, and then 350 and 346 in the fourth gens. If your parents wont let you get a V8, they wont let you get a Z28.

Think about it, the most probable reason for not letting you get a V8 is that they dont want you to be driving fast, the Z28 is the fastest camaro available, and one of the fastest cars in its price range available to the general public. its only a fraction of a second slower than the corvette in the quarter mile.

I would agree with 89IROC&RS on this one Z28s have always and only had Small Blocks in them. Never did you have a choice in engines except in the 3rd gen camaros with the 305/350 engines. 89IROC&RS when could get the 350 in 3rd gens? Wasn't it only 87 and on IROC Zs? I was just curious.

I have an 86 IROC with a 1990 350 crate so you can put a 350 in more than just the 87

you could get the 350 in the Z from 87 to 92. The reason it "wasnt" availble in the Z28 for some years is that the Z28 wanst around for a few years, it was replaced by the IROC-Z which was the Z28, as is evidenced by the Z28 spid code in my IROC's glovebox. confused?? lol

Well I am not much of a 3rd gen guy. I am really into the 67-73 Camaros. 4th gens are nice too. That is why I dont know that much about them. All I know is that is the generation they changed everything: full unibody, 4 link rear ends, EFI, etc.

Do they know much about cars?

You could get a Firebird Formula if they don't know much about cars, because all regular Firebirds are V6, you could get a Firebird Formula, it came with a 350 V8 like the Z28.

A little hard to find though.
