ok well first of all ive noticed that just about every thread in here is about s-10 problems. why buy one then? well my brother has an s-10, it needs a tune up badly. a while ago we had to replace the battery (about a month ago). also, someone put the spark plugs in backwards, or in the wrong order, so it got fucked up and we had to change them. well now everytime we're driving in it, and he is downshifting when coming to a stop, the rpms drop to about 500 and the truck nearly dies. it has died before as well. i forgot what year it is, but if there is any suggestions it would help a lot. thanks

If someone messed up with the wires order it might still be wrong.
What motor does it have? someone will tell you the proper order.
If you look on the other forums you'll see as many problems with every other type of car, and truck... with the exception of hotrods, and that's because most rodders either know their cars, or have very deep pockets.
even then they have the weirdiest questions

I know on the 94-newer trucks the stock spark plug wires are labeled. I have a 99 4-banger. If you go to a autozone or advanced auto parts they have a s-10 manual. It has alot of useful info but it still can be vague. I checked my s-10 book and it says for the 4-banger the numbers should be starting from the front of the motor is number 1 and to the rear of the motor is the fourth ( in order 1 to 4). For the six cylinders the plug wire order is on the right side of the engine it goes from front to back 1-3-5 and on the left front to back 2-4-6. If you need any more information please feel free to ask.

My 85 - 2.5 does the exact same thing...from what I've read it seems to be associated with the IAC motor (Idle Air Circuit) found on the fuel injection system. I have yet to replace this, maybe someone else has and can confirm?? If by chance I get some free time & $$ , I'll swap it out and see if it goes away. Most spare cash is being used to finance my HO 305 & TH350 swap scheduled for later this spring.
