even though im not really 'old school', i think AF turned to shit when the PH people came here.............:)

IMO

I guess im "old school". I didnt post much for the first few months tho, just mostly reading stuff.

I think it got frustrating when people started posting a lot of threads about the forum, instead of finding interestig topics to discuss.I was just as guilty as anyone, but I try to avoid starting pointless shitfights just because the forum isn't exactly how I'd like it to be.

I'm not old school, but I signed up around the time when most of them were still posting frequently. It was cool back then, now it just sucks. There was the whole Kiwi incident and the moderator troubles. I agree with Taranaki about the whole "posting about AF instead of posting interesting topics" thing.

Though I don't blame PH, I think it was a turning point of some sort.

Still here.
People need to put the past behind them and stop going on about it...it happened and we just need to get back to making this the best darn car forum around.
Yes its had its problems over the last few months, but you have to remember there are 18,000 ppl here now so there will always be the odd war or two, people getting pissed off etc etc, but on a whole its alot better then a lot of other places you go to.

Im still here. But I must say this. OT forums have sucked here lately. But if that is all you are here for. Then I dont mind if you hate it, or leave. AF is about cars, not OT stuff. All the rest of the forums seem to be running great. Which is all that matters. But again, I wouldnt mind if the OT forums vanished.

I signed on the first few days the board started, then switched to this name. I think the start date is still the earliest you can get since it only shows the month. Igor IMed me and I joined. I rarely post though. Even though the board is so large, there are very few interesting topics. I stick to my old boards.

I didn't join until the beginning of September 2001, but I was a consistent poster at that point. I basically just find many topics to be mundane and often repetitive. I'm sure things will turn around again. AF has a very strong root, and it surely isn't going away any time soon.

i'm relatively old school. OT has gotten worse lately, so i come here less. another reason for not coming here much is lack of posting in the boards i like.

i'm all for no off-topic

this is a car board isn't it?

Out of your last 10 posts,9 are off topic......the tenth is in the Rolls-royce forum......I don't think anyone on the boards actually owns one..But I'm not suggesting it be closed,I just don't go there....

In a similar vein KBS is/was one of the biggest OT posters. 7 out of his last 10 posts were in Off-topic forums.Perhaps he should read the last sentence of his own sig.

Its sad that two of the 'old-school' OT members don't want an OT forum any more...but they could always just stay out of it .

I agree with Taranaki on this one.

If you DON'T like it DON'T read it!!

I'm old school for sure. I remember when AF was still running vBulletin v.1 or whatever, and it was all black and white or something, it was wierd now that I think about it...

To all who think I've left...not so. I'm fairly OT inactive now, setting up and running #AFchat has become my OT fix. I check other car related forums more often than before now. Also, I was home on break the past week and felt like avoiding computers :)

If you get rid of the OT forum, then people will start posting OT stuff in forums where they shouldn't be, then the people in those forums will get pissed off. Look at the summary for this forum on the Coffee Break main page......"Talk about anything other than cars. But you can't be mad and angry in this forum!" I think that speaks for itself.

So? your point being? Do I use OT? Yes I do. I am saying, I wouldnt mind if it were gone. Damn, people are on my ass about everything I say.

I qualify as old school. I've been pretty busy with other things so I haven't been frequenting AF (or any other boards) much these days.

I don't care whether you intend to come here or not.But if you intend to try and get this forum closed completely just because it doesn't suit you any more,Ithink that is hypocrisy, and I'm sure there would be other members who would also take a dim view.

Im not going to try and do anything. I want a million dollars. I want no house payments. I want lots of things. I would like very much for people to be able to take sarcasm. But some of those things will never happen. And I still dont see how that makes me a hypocrit. But whatever. I am done with this thread. I would rather not change the subject.

I'm still here! but like many of the other old school homies, i don't frequent OT as often as i used to. i'm mainly in car modeling and Ferrari.
I liked the good old days when jay was SilverS2000 and he had the "I can't find my windshield" sig. LOL it still makes me laugh. but i'm not giving up on AF just yet!
