progress: Nissan Skyline GTS25T (a replica of my own!)

so we begin the second skyline model of my refound hobby!

i'm going to try and recreate my own car... the Nissan Skyline GTS25T.

i've learnt a few things from the last model i built... use styrene for the kit!!!

so this is what i want to achieve...

http://www.japclub.co.uk/features/boabsskyline/PICT0112_DCE.JPG

http://www.japclub.co.uk/features/boabsskyline/PICT0129_DCE.JPG

here's the progress so far...

just out of the box..
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/2550581-med.jpg

kit coming on.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/2550589-med.jpg

not so much putty work there ;)

stock wheels (f) v's new wheels (r)
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/25505811-med.jpg

rolling chassis.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/25505812-med.jpg

i used hiroboy's "how to" for converting the female wheels to fit on the tamyia chassis, and i worked out how to do the fronts!! (i'll put up a "how i did it" soon). i used some alu tube for the exhaust tips.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/25505813-med.jpg
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/25505814-med.jpg

and i finished the interior...
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/25505815-med.jpg

i had to attack a spare steering wheel with a lighter!! pretty happy with the result!!

does anyone have any idea how i'm going to make the A pillar pod mounts? i was thinking of just sticking some small styrene tube straight to the a pillar on the body shell?!?!?! would this work, or look awful?

cheers

I think that It'll work out nice to put the styrene tubes on the A-pillar. Don't do it before the windsheild and the side windows are there though or you might get some problems to get them to fit afterwards. Nice car, for sale? Something new instead? Keep us posted on the project.

tikiman,

selling up due to new baby on the way and no funds to manage both!! i'll just have to settle for the 1:24 version :( (car that is!! don't think the missus would approve of a 1:24 baby!)

got all the putty work done, sanded, re-filled, sanded some more, and then primed...

been looking for a can of spray for the top coat, but cant find nissan AR01 (super clear red)

even nissan don't stock it!!!

gonna do a bit more searching, so hopefully i'll have pics of the finished top coat in a few days.

too say i'm happy is an understatment!! i never thought my abilities could handle a job like this, but it did, and i'm chuffed :D

the front end is sitting slightly lower than the 1:1, but it looks good like that!! may have to go out and attack the 1:1 with some styrene sheet and milliputt!!!! :grinyes:

thanks to those who pointed me in the right direction for the bit's and bobs

next project will be the zakspeed ford capri, but it can wait till after xmas!!

have a merry xmas everyone, thanks again

(couldn't post individual pics, so just put a link to the gallery instead!!)

i will (at some point) be building models of both the R32 and R34 that are flanking my car in the banner (love the shape of the 32, and fear that 34!!!)

thanks for all the comments, see ya all soon ;)
