99 Tahoe Leaking Coolant...

I know you've heard this one before, but I thought it was my thermostat leaking so I changed it and found out that it was the threaded fitting behind the alternator leaking all the way down past the tranny.

Well throughout all this I had my fuel pump go out and changed the fuel filter in the process. Well I drove it to work today and kept an eye on the coolant leak, which was very minor. My check engine light was on since the fuel pump change yesterday so I thought I would disconect the negative battery wire when I got home and let the light reset. I waited a couple of hours and went to reconect the neg. wire. I went to start my Tahoe and it was very difficult to start. I had to pump and pump the gas and finally got it started. While I was trying to start it I noticed that I was leaking some coolant from the fitting behind the alternator a little more than normal. I turned it off to try it again and the same problem continued. It's sounds like it's about to crank over and then it doesn't, then after a couple more tries it starts.

My question is due to this leak getting my starter all wet is it possible that could it be wet enough to make it difficult to start?

Also my check engine light is still on? What's the tool I need to remove the treaded connector if it breaks off in the process?

Thanks guys.

It's highly unlikely. Check all your connections. Does it turn over slow or does it just crank and crank and then finally fire up. If it turns over slow then check the battery connections at the battery and the starter. Also make sure the battery is fulled charged. If all those check out it could possiblly be the starter drawing to much. If it cranks and cranks then it may be the fuel pressure regulator. Does the SES light stay off when it is running ?? How does it run ??

It turns over just fine, not slow at all. The SES light does stay on while the engine is running and this morning it started perfectly? My PRND123 indicator light does stay on and has been for the last couple of months. I had my ignition replaced about a year ago because of an attempted break-in and I don't think they put it in correctly. When I turn it all the way backwards I have no juice to operate the radio and other accesories, but it's been that way since they installed it. Could my ignition be going bad again?

What you expierenced is normal. It is hard to start because you reset the computer. Mine did the same thing to me , i just kept giving it gas till it was able to idle on it's ow. I heard that it does this because it has to relearn the fuel curve ect to keep it running.

one more thing i will add, disconnecting the battery WILL reset the computer but will NOT clear the codes, at least it does not on my 2000 silverado.

Thanks Kenny that makes sense because I've been driving it all day and started it a half dozen times without a problem. I did get the code from Autozone and he said that it was code P0452. Whatever that means.
