Aight i got a 4th gen lude stick except for CAI, which makes very lil difference. but anyways i got a friend who just got a 2002 VW jetta GLS im gonna race him no matter what but i wanna know who u guys think would win. I have the h22 VTEC engine pushing 193hp (including CAI) with 2.2 L and 2900 lbs. he has a 1.8 L with 180hp and over 3000 lbs. Im pretty sure that it would be a good race but i think I might win. wat do u think.

I think it would be a good race till the end, but i think the prelude will just edge it out

You should win pretty easily, depending on driver. You have more power and a lighter car, and on average you run the quarter mile almost a full second quicker.

as long as he's not chipped, you should be good to go. a chipped 1.8t is another story. i have a chipped A4 1.8t that weighs +/- 3500lbs and i can beat a 4th gen vtec with basic bolt ons plus cams and pulleys.

Dont underestimate those little 1.8L turbos, they scream, and they have a lot of torque too. I say it's anyones guess.

I'm not underestimating them, they are quick, but they won't, or shouldn't beat a 4th gen vtec, unless he's chipped like del said. He's definitely right, a relatively cheap chip can boost those things from 180hp to like 225hp and add a crap load of torque.

its not chipped. my buddy got it three days ago and its completely stock. after talking with him he doesnt hevn know if its the 1.8T or the 2.0 which produces a whopping 115hp LOL!

is there any chips for a 4th gen lude? how much will it help my hp and about how much do they cost?

A chip can do that? I thought you needed a different wastegate to control the boost.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you can do it with the chip alone. My friend has an A4 and he was going to add a chip and I'm pretty sure that's all he needed. Del would probably know best, he has it done.

yea i found out today that it was 2.0L so it has a total of 115hp, so I dont think im even going to waste the gas to beat him.maybe just for fun and a lil bit of bragging

no need to change the wastegate. i upgraded using the basic REVO program. Audi has the stock 1.8t so detuned it's not even funny. 30 to 40 more hp and 60+ more lb ft of torque for $500. on stock injectors, the stock ko3, etc. can't beat that.

i raced my buddy in his 4th gen vtec with i/h/e/cams and pulleys. i didn't kill him. got the jump and stayed in the lead the whole way til we shut down around 120. if i was pulling a head it was ever so slightly. it was a highway race. if my 3500lb tank of a car can do that. a jetta 1.8 chipped can do more damage. more stock hp and considerable lighter than an A4.
