2001 gpgt engine stutter

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster. You guys seem to be amazing with GP's. I have a problem with my 2001 gpgt. It drives fine, seems to accelerate fine, but if I give it the gas with the tranny in N or P, it revs up to 4K RPM and then just stutters and slowly creeps up to 5k RPM (I don't hold it too long). I replaced fuel/air filter, always do regular oil changes (3500 miles).
Also, I have found it odd that between oil changes it always seems to consume about 1/2 to 1 quart - is that odd? I have always had rice burners before this beast.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Our rev limiters are set to kick in at 4000 RPM when the transmission is in Neutral or Park. I see people do it all the time, but I was always taught that long high revs with no load on the engine is a NO-NO.

Burning a quart or less oil between changes is pretty normal.....although mine doesn't use any :icon16: . According to Porsche, my old 944 was considered to be "Within the normal range" if it used less than 3 quarts between oil changes (or something like that). Not exactly sure of that number.......I'm getting older so I forget things.

Thanks carnutcass. I don't usually sit and idle, but I was just f'n around, and I noticed that. My old Hondas, would rev up to 7K (maybe 8 ;-)) without a flinch.

You guys are the best!

On another note - I can start a new thred with this, but I thought I would offer. I would like to put together a website listing the -best- mods for a gp, and in what order it is easiest/best/cost effective to do them. Anyone up for supplying the wisdom, if I donate the design and hosting space and bandwidth?

Let me think about this.. Cass... wisdom... Nope never heard those two words together before.
Keep me a real small spot on your site, I'll tell you everything I know.

i don't think, what air freshner to use and not to use in your car, is all that helpful info for this proposed site. :lol2:

I think that's a great idea. There's several web sites that do similar lists, but ALL have shortcomings (In my not-so-humble opinion :icon16: ):

ZZP lists what mods you should make and in what order....strictly performance related. No approximate dollar amounts though. No appearance mods at all on their list and it's only for GTPs.
http://www.zzperformance.com/zzp/info/how_to_begin_mods_gtp.htm

The Trainagle Area Grand Prix Club has the ABSOLUTE BEST list of how-to links any where. I reference it regularly. However, they don't suggest which mod is best or what order you should do them to acheive a given result. Also, no approximate dollar amounts.
http://tacgp.clubgp.com/

Most of us want to do a combination of appearance and performance mods. All potential mods, listed in on the same page, with links and approximate dollar amounts would be really handy.

Cass -
Sounds like a plan. I'm pretty stressed out at my day job and of course the holidays. I'm planning on starting design right after xmas (taking time-off from work). I hope I can have something live by Feb. 1 at the latest.
If you (or anyone else) has good suggestions like this one, feel free to email me directly at [email protected].
Thanks again guys!
