Hi fellas!
Feeling confident enough to post pics of a non-finished model. Everytime I've done this something bad has happend to the project...so far :disappoin But as things seems to be with this one it's likely to be finished without to much hazzle. It's supposed to be a christmas gift to my father, the one who set me of into the wonderful world of scale modeling some 30 plus years ago. Over to the model, Revell/Monogram's Impala with some minor scratch building and a little detailing going on. The interior is Tamiya acrylics, X-7 sprayed over a chocolate coloured base coat that I mixed to tone down the red a bit and get a more correct hue. Bodywork is done with Tamiya spray cans, Clear pearl over white primer followed by clear coats and a light rub and polish with Meguiar's deep crystal polish (Thanks Mike United). It will be followed by their deep crystal carnauba wax to preserve that shine. Stripped the bumpers and put on Alclad II chrome as they looked down right awful  I'm no fan of Revell chrome and this one didn't do anything to impress me. Well on to the pics, I'll show more when I'm finished with it.

Looks sweet man, I've got two 59s going at the moment, I have to say that I would prefer the tuck n roll that comes with the 59 coupe 2in1 rather the then the no texture, stick on upholstery type that comes with the old monogram kit.

very nice indeed... i buy alot of old Japanese car models and i hate all chromed parts from any company. Alclad II chrome works wonders.

Yeah! I know what you mean. Actually I bought Mica red and gold for it. But when I was browsing for references this white with red interior showed up and it kind of got stuck in my head. So be it I thought, white it is...but with a twist as it sparkles quite a lot when the light is right. Can barely wait 'til tonight when the kids are a sleep so I can get moving again. There's nothing like the final stages in building when you can see all the hard work paying off.
'Til next time

Well here's a little update of a couple of nights work. Put the interior together with a dull coat on the floor, some BMF on the steering wheel and epoxi on the gauges to simulate the glazing. Put some dust in the engine compartment and underneath on the chassis. Still has to tamper a bit with some more dust and grime. Also did the emblems front and rear, hard to get the details on thoose as the paint and foil is a bit obstructive. The one in the back looks ok from a distant but can't really stand a good hard look :shakehead Blacked out the grill and maybe I'll make some light bulbs to put in the head lights!? They will be visible if you know what to look for and just for fun...maybe?
Here's the pics.

Just used some thinned Tamiya flat black and small brush. Then I polished the excess away with a dry Q-tip after the paint was dry. Didn't even try to make it right from the start as it wipes away really easy from the chrome.
