5th gen honda prelude speaker upgrade

Hi there fellow prelude owners, just joined up and i'm hopeing for some advice about upgrading from crap 15w factory speakers(front,rear,and tweeters)in my 98 5th gen prelude v-tec.I know we are restricted to the size of the magnets because of the springs in the boot and the size of the cavity in the doors.I know about cutting away the plastic cone in the doors to allow more room.Does anyone know of the MAKE and MODEL of great sounding speakers that would fit.Any advice would be grately appreciated.

Boston Acoustics makes speakers with a "-H" suffix that means the speaker will fit in Hondas (e.g. FX6-H).

Cheers for the advice I'm activly following it up.Were those fx6 h's for the front?I'm in Scotland and BOS is a more unusual make but i have fond them......Thanks.....

check out www.crutchfield.com as well. You can put in your exact car, and it will give you the results of speakers that will fit your car.

I have the Polk Audio MM6's (which were too big for my 96 Prelude - I had to remove the trunk springs), they sound great.

Does'nt removing the boot springs have some kind of an affect on the opening and shutting of the boot itself.

Yes - my boot lid is extremely heavy to lift open, and it won't stay propped open by itself. Fortunately I don't drive that car anymore - I have another (96 lude) that's my daily driver. But even when I drove the first Prelude, I hardly ever opened the boot for any reason, so I never really missed the springs.

That Crutchfield site is pretty good, they never used to list high-end components, but now there's some pretty good stuff.
