Batteries

Ok i have been going thru batteries like crazy in my radio gear.For the longest time i have used the so called heavy duty batteries and have recently heard that alkaline batteries are longer lasting.If this is true it would be much cheaper to go with alkaline.I have read that if you took a digital camera with alkaline batteries and one with heavy duty batteries it would take 38 more heavy duty batteriesthan alkaline to do 200 photos.That is crazy.Any input on this would be appreciated.

It's true "heavy duty" batteries are old technology. Alkalines are much better, something like 300% more capacity.

Alkalines are better. For my radio I have some rechargeable NiCd's, while Im waiting for a batt to charge, or in the middle of repair I pop it on the charger.

oh yea they are definatley better.I put some in my sons game boy and so far they are running strong.Man what a difference.I never thought about the difference in batteries accept with rechargables.Of course being that my son is 6 using rechargables would be a disaster couse he would throw them away on me.

I agree...Alkalines are alot better then the cheap heavy duty batteries!
Nothing worse then being in middle of a race and your controller batteries go low on ya and your car stops steering haha.

I totally understand.I was running my truck a week or so ago and the batteries went dead in my controller and i couldnt do anything but watch my truck run away until it crashed.Man did that suck.

Agreed, It's amazing to me people still use those old heavy duty batteries at all. The charge in them is so unstable, I'd never put them in an expensive component of mine and risk them blowing out the capacitors or leaking all over the place. Here's a related story though, I was in a pinch a few weeks ago and had to buy some batteries at this little dive of a gas station and all they had were the heavy duty cheapo ones. I tried them out because I had no other option and they lasted less than a quarter amount of time as the regular alkalines I use. Alkaline is so much better it's not even funny.

you can't go wrong ever with alkaline. they are the best in my opinion. i use them for my walkman and everything really

yea i agree.Had to laugh on christmas.I was using alkalines and a relative had heavy duties and by the end of the day he was asking to use some of my batteries.

Heavy duty batteries are absolute garbage. Im surprised they are still allowed to sell them. I think comapnies use that term to rip people off who dont know any better. Stick with alkaline and you can never go wrong

I have come to learn this.I cant believe we fall for this kind of false crap.i just realized how much money i could have saved over the last year if i used alkalines instead.

I know it's on water but they use some interresting electronics to reach speeds beyond believe.
