jdm engine question

Hey I have heard that there is a jdm engine for my 4th gen lude that has a base dyno of like 220hp. how easily will this mount on to the stock engine mount? and can I use the same engine mods for this aengine as I could my stock? for example I have new pistons, rods, sleeves, and CAI, so my question is can I use these same parts with the JDM model? and also will I have to get a new tranny for the JDM?

If anyone has this engine on their 4th gen how do u like it and is it worth it?

do you know what engine is currently in your car is it a h22 or a h23 if its a h series motor your stock mounts and tranny should work if it. if your current engine is a h series your mods should match up

the jdm 220 hp engine you're referring to is the s-type h22a. as for using your components - I imagine you can if they are h22 componentry, the bolt on stuff atleast.

however - as far as sleeves/pistons/general internals go - you wouldn't really want to use that stuff because that is HOW the 220 hp is achieved with the s-type engine - it basically has different pistons (and i imagine connecting rods, and god knows what else) then it's little 200hp brother. which brings up the question if you already have an h22a and you've done all that internal work - you should be somewhere up around those performance numbers anyways - so why would you want the jdm s-type?. In any case - a lot of people buy eagle connecting rods and find the s-type pistons elsewhere and build that engine themselves from their existing h22a's. You'll find a lot of good info about it on honda-tech.com

if you have an h23 some bolt on stuff probably won't work. (ie: like headers) although your CAI should.

it's the h22 block - therefore it should mount up fine.
since it's the h22 block - you "should" (although someone should confirm this) be able to use either the h23 or h22 transmission.

best of luck.

I agree with ludeguy - if you've already got an USDM H22 with the internals upgrades you've listed then you're horsepower is probably already close to what an H22 Type S makes. But if you've got an H23 or F22 then the Type S swap might be worth it (because of the VTEC).
I don't know for sure either, but I think the H22 and H23 transmissions are interchangeable - doesn't matter if it's JDM or USDM.

JDM engine is gay. It wont pass smog inspection.

srry for not specifying but i have an h22a1 and the internal components are not on my car as of now, I am recieving them for x-mas so I might take ur advice and find the s-type pistons and use other rods and sleeves and keep my engine. the only real reason I would getthe s-type would be b/c my stock engine has 126k miles on it and i dont want it to f*** up when I put my turbo and stuff on it. thnks for all ur help

P.S. dont look at the site for boytiti's car it fux up ur comp!
