007, That was a very impressive collection of pictures. It would be interesting to learn of the details of the customer cars that were mentioned in the factory visit description.
As is the case with most McLaren owners, the cars are modified quite often to meet the needs of each owner. The text from this gentleman indicated that several customer cars where in for just simple service or a quite involved upgrade. As long as the work is completed by the factory, there is complete assurance that the work is done to the utmost of standards and perfection.

It actually brought a tear to my eye. Boy what I would give to be able to own the car. Man are those ppl lucky. Shoot to just touch it would probably be more than my senses can handle.

Been meaning to post these pics...there's so much to write that I could spend days on this board!
http://www.tvrfreak.com/albums/trips/2002%2006%2007%20London/05%20McLaren/page_01.htm
The white longtail car lives in North Carolina and was in for servicing...it still had the Lufthansa tags on it.
The green one is in storage and will one day be put into the McLaren museum.
The third one of these cars belongs to Prince Jafri (brother of Sultan of Brunei) and is presumed lost to the world.
Enjoy!

:bandit:
Yes, that's me in the car. I got to sit in the green one and a couple of other ones as well, but didn't take pictures. I think it's a pain in the ass to try and get into the driver's seat. I am somewhat seriously considering getting one, but I think I could have just as much fun for a lot less. And with the advancement of technology, a McLaren's very expensive upgrades and servicing become very difficult to justify. Plus there's all sorts of hoops to jump through in order to get one into the US.
I did like the care and attention I was given. I am planning on going to see the service center in California as well (since I live on the west coast). There's another service center on the East Coast (NJ) and there's two more in Sweden and Germany, and one in Australia and one in NZ. The one in the Middle East is just a trained private mechanic who works for the sheikh of Dubai, but the sheikh flies a McLaren tech out from the factory every year to have his car checked up on.
rgds,
Faisal.

Wow, those pictures are very impressive.
* If you ever do decide to get a Mclaren, get that blue one, the colour suits the car very well, as does that interior.

Thanks for the pictures finally some high quality ones. Just one question though? Is the mclaren car facility open to the general public? I am going to England in september and would surely stop there if it is open to the public.
thanks
thanks

Sorry, no. It's not open to the public. If it was, it would probably be the number 1 tourist attraction in England!
But there is a McLaren showroom on Park Lane in Central London. And they have a silver F1 road car there. If you go, make sure you buy the book Driving Ambition. You should be able to pick up a copy there. It's a GREAT book.

It says in the description that owner's brother also has an F1 and the cars have a car-to-car comm system built in. I know the Sultan of Brunei and Prince Jefri has comm system in 2 of their F1s. I got this info from a member of lambopower.com called abolfaz. Erik might recognize him. So is this a Brunei F1 or an Ojjeh brothers F1?

...and even the Ojjeh rumor has been severely questioned over time. The story when #073 was sold was that the two cars belonged to a pair of brothers from Argentina. This was corroborated through a couple of channels and people who had an idea of the F1s that the Ojjeh brothers did actually own claimed that #011 and #073 were not in that mix. We may never get the real answer...

I've had an email from a person 'close' to an F1  who has stated the 'brother owners' of #011 and #073 were South American, and these chassis #'s were looked after in Woking for several years but they have since been sold.
Just to clarify, the Ojjeh brothers aren't from South America, they are Middle Eastern and never owned #011 and #073

Hello,
Wait a minute :) I don't agree
1) After #011 was advertised on www.mmc.fr before the auction, I talk with a friend working for MMC and he confirmed the car color matching a watch and also was not surprised by Ojjeh's name.
2) #073 wears a Swiss plate in 2003, at this time, someone can say who owned this car ?
3) Who drove the car and spoke perfectly french at Supercar Rally 2003 at Geneva ???
4) #075 was sold at Geneva
5) #011 (british plate) and #073 were spotted together on highway in Europe.

My contact didnt elaborate enough for me to answer all your questions, but its not outside the bounds of reality that the 'brother owners' of Middle eastern Origin could also be wealthy enough to have homes in Europe where their cars may be kept, and be educated enough to speak other languages.
Just something to ponder on :);):)

Me neither - they are no longer owners, but even so their names, were they to be mentioned here, will mean nothing to us now so its trivial now really
I hope to get an email address I can reply directly to my contact, as I can only relate on here what he sends to me via a 3rd party website - we'll see
