The correct way AND SAFE way is to use them on a roll bar. You shouldn't use harnesses for daily driving as it can do more harm than good in a roll over accident.
With regular seat belts in a roll over and the roof collapsing in on you you can move out of the way.
With a harness on an in a roll over and the roof collapsing in on you your head becomes the roll bar because your body will not be able to go anywhere.

A roll cage is not usually legal to drive on the street. A roll bar is usually.

ask your self a better question, do you need a harness or a roll bar? Usually in 4 point harnesses you can slide down, thats why alot of racing requires 5 point aka 'Nad Catcher.
