Conventional Motor Oil: Castrol GTX 5w30
Synthetic Motor Oil: Mobil 1 Synthetic 5w30
Just don't use a fram or penzoil oil filter. Very poor filter.
Use a Purolator, WIX, Napa Gold or an AC Delco.

I use Valvoline synthetic. Works ok for me

Don't put your good money with Valvoline synthetic, it is not a true synthetic.
Only Mobil 1 , Amsoil and Redline are true PAO based completely synthetic oils.
The others are marketing scams.

I have a really stupid question, but I just got an oil change done the other day and found that the door, where the the oil filter is, was down. We can't get it to stay up. On the door it says that the door must be shut for engine coolant. What can I do to fix it?

The oil filter door?
LT, its the splash gaurd that covers the bottom of the motor, the door alows access to the oil filter, i would think your blazer has that two,
my lt blazer does the same thing sometimes when i don't tighten it anough,

I think the new trailblazers have this. None of mine do in the 90's.

Is your oil filter attached to the motor or do you have the remote oil filter cooler assembly.

Mine was slipping a bit when I torqued the 1/2 inch bolt back into it. Just get a replacement speed nut to clip over the backside of the door's frame where it bolts to - mine was stripped out and would let the door open a little even though the bolt was snug. Replacement of the speednut does not mean that you can torque the heck out of it, it will strip easily. Just make it snug and there should be no worries.
