I have a '89 Camry CS (carburettor version) with about 150,000km (90,000miles) on the clock. Recently I have had a problem with starting the car when it is warm. It seems that when the fan is operating when I turn the key it won't start - not even turn over, absolutely nothing! Usually I have to wait for the engine to cool down before I can start it again. This happens completely at random - sometimes it will start and sometimes it won't. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Good chance it's your starter solenoid contacts.

I actually had the same problem. For me...I ended up replacing/testing everything in the circuit...starter, batter, neutral safety switch, and ignition switch. The starting circuit on mine had no relay and I think the problem was with the wires. Someone told me about painlesswiring.com and said I needed one of their hot shot starter relay kits. Check it out...ever since I installed it...it cranks everytime!!! If you've already replaced your starter or contacts, give this a try.
