1: IF I get an SL 1995 and I have 5,000$ to mod it...
how much HP i'll get and
how much speed

2: I want 750 HP in my car...

I'm not an expert on SL's, so I can't accurately answer the question. Although, I am not too confident you could pump anywhere NEAR 750hp out of a VR4 for $5000, let alone an SL. I think that's quite a long shot. I'm sure you could make it quite fast though.

you could do an engine swap with a v-r4 for about 2 grand depending on the condition of the engine

thats a start then boost, injection exaust ecu the works. then move to the bigger turbos.

Also a few of my freinds with civics bored out there cylinders i don't know if you could do them to our cars but it gave him alot of hp

so, how much you think it cost for Engine swap and 4wd?

Look at the FAQ for TT conversion...also check out the NA modding bible in there...but you wont get 750hp out of an SL...I don't think that has been done yet...there aren't that many vr4s with that kind of power.

and you probably wont ever find a 2nd gen vr-4 for 6,000, hell, i've seen 92 models with 120K go for more than 6 grand.

As far as converting to TT, look at 2 grand in parts if you find used parts. For an AWD conversion, you'd have to get a vr-4 or rt/tt wrecked car and pull the parts off that car because the rear frames are different, you'd be better off getting a vr-4 unless your trying to do it for bragging rights.

Frankly, your best bet for not going into forced induction on an SL is to go with nitrous, but be careful with it.

Can I ask why he shouldnt go forced induction on a SL? His main issue with lots of HP wil of course be traction. I dunno if you frequent 3si but IPO is on the verge of breaking all 3s records in his SL-T(single turbo) With a bit more tuning he has the power to dip low in the 10's. He has trapped over 130mph with slicks several times. That car is a beast.

Oh and BTW nitrous is considered forced induction.;)

My guess is that IPO has spend a whole lot more then 5K getting his car to where it is now.

If your looking for 750hp just to say you have a car with 750hp, the SL is not your best choice. In fact, the 3000GT platform is not the best choice. These are fantastic cars and some have done some fantastic things with them, but to do what you want requires you to be on the cutting edge of modifying SLs. In my estimation, you're not quite there. If you require someone else to do the work and fabrication for you, expect to pay a whole lot more.

There are a lot good inexpensive mods that can be done to a SL that will improve performance and give you a chance to work on your car. Taking the step to turn it into a twin tubro is a major undertaking and one that several have done so there are a few folks who can offer advice along the way. Hotshot did it with his and as far as appearenes go, its one of the nicest engine bays I've ever seen. I wouldn't mind lining up against him on a track one day. I think his TT Auto and my Spyder would be a pretty even match up.

IPO has less than 9k in his car including the $2500 purchase price. Besides I was just making a point, because Hot Shot said hes best off not not going for big power in a SL. There are a few others that are close the the 500hp mark in their FWD.

Mite I first suggest getting a base model, b/c it's lighter weight, and also taking out un needed weight like back seats. However, why not wait for the Ripp Mods supercharger, and throw that sucker into a blown up VR-4, like I was suggested to do b4 (I think talskinny said that one, but I'm not sure)... all and all though, you could prolly find a 1st gen VR-4 for like what 9 or 10 grand, and get an MBC for cheap. There's alot of possibilities on this one, but do check the N/A modding bible, b/c I found it very helpfull...

If you really want to reach your goal go to dynamicracing.com and go to the turbo upgrades and is all there but is going to be around 18K

I think alot of you are missing his original point. He's got $5,000 to spend and wants an SL with 750 HP. I'm just gonna say that's highly unrealistic. I just don't see getting 530 HP out of $5000 in mods. Maybe I'm wrong tough.

Putting a S/C on a TT car probably wouldn't gain you too awful much. I suppose the S/C might help give power while the turbos spool... maybe :confused: .

Truthfully, if you want to not spend a ton of money and have a beast of a car, the 3S is not the platform for you. A Supra or some other DSM would probably fit your wants a little more.

Well if you do all the work yourself, you could get a vr4 to 750hp (putting you in low elevens if not 10s) for under 10k. However, the majority of people that do it either own or are directly affiliated with a performance shop. If not, then they spend TONS paying a performance shop to do all the work and tuning.
As I said before, if you don't fit these 2 categories, you could do it all yourself...but it requires alot of knowledge, equipment, and time, and still a decent chunk of change. Start out with more basic goals...tossing around '750hp' will result in very few taking you seriously...especially if you are refering to an SL. First get the car, then research...FAQ and www.stealth.com are great places to start, then when you know more, start modding.

That you could do. Get yourself to BPU, then some fuel upgrades and ignition upgrades, then throw in a S/C and you'd probably be competing with some stock or possibly BPU VR-4s (A shot of nitrous might help you along with this too). But there's a difference between being "powerful like a VR-4" and having 750 horses. Not even many VR-4s have that. For $5K, you could probably get yourself close to VR-4 range if you know just what to buy, where to shop and can do alot of the work yourself.
