one dead voice coil?

I have a Pioneer Premier 10" DVC sub and it seems it seems like one of the voice coils has gone out or something. It plays at about 1/3" of the power that it used to play at, ie. it sounds like I only have one voice coil hooked up. All the connections are good, the tensil leads look fine and everything. I'v switched it to a differnt channel on the amp and it does the same thing. Anyone ever had this happen? Am I missing something obvious?

pull out the sub, unhook the wires, and test the resistance of each coil individually. If the resistance is 0 on either of them, then you fried the coil and you'll need a new sub. If the resistance is infinite on either of them, then there's a break somewhere and, depending on where it is, you may be able to fix it.

yeah, one is fried. Just a cheep sub anyway so I'm not too worried about it. Thanks for the tip, I'v never heard of doing that before.
