Bet none of you guys have ever answered a tire question so I figured I would ask one knowing you will give me the very best expert advice. Here we go..... I have a 2002 2500HD 6.0L with only 3,000 miles on it yes that is correct 3,000 and I want to put bigger tires on it because the guy I bought it from was and older man who never drove it, he bought it to pull the boat he sold. I mean this truck has never even seen the rain. Seriously!!!! I got a great deal on it $23,500 ext cab black. I love it. I still have a 98z71 with BFG A/T 285 but I was wonering if 305's would fit or 315's or will I be let down to hear that just 285's fit. It is too new with to low miles for a lift so that is out of the question. Thanks for helping

I am faced with the same dilemma. I just bought a 96 2500
and it has the 245/75R16 tires on it. They look so tiny on this thing.
What was Chevy thinking??!!

Anyways, first off if you put bigger tires on, it will throw the speedo off, unless you reprogram the computer to recognize the bigger tires.
Second, you SHOULD be able to fit 285/75R16's under there, but you may need to crank up your torsion bars.

I am probably just gonna go with either 265/75R16's, or 235/85R16's, which are both about the same height, the 265 being a little wider.

Good luck!!

I do know that 305's will fit with some minor trimming to the lower bumper valance. I put a set on a '00 2500 HD ext cab 4x4 once. The only time they hit was when you were backing up and turned, or if the suspension was compressed and you turned.
