I have a '89 1/2 ton with a 350, I would like to get rid of the TBI and go to a carb. I have looked at the FI sytem it is nice but also upwards of $1,100. What do I need to convert over to a carb withour messing up my computer? Is there a kit or a certain carb that I need to buy?

well i was at jegs the other day and asked the guy the same question for my 90 half ton with a 350. lucky me a guy was in earlier who had bought stuff for doin the same thing. i guess u have to get new throttle linkages, and u have to mess with ur tranny and some other crap to. i forget if he said nething about messing with the computer but i bet u do, all in all it was like 850 bucks, not to bad i dont think and thas including a carb. but he said if u tbi is running fine to stick with it its much better, and i was looking in the jegs mag today and found a 670cfm tbi for an 87 through 89 350 for about 350 bucks pretty cheap if u ask me and it uses all the factory connections, made by holley. i cant find it on the website but its in the magazine which they send u for free.

If you're wanting to change to a carb just because of "power limitations", rethink your ideas, because 350 tbi motors can achieve upwards of 400 horsepower with a knowledgeable mechanic AND a tight wallet.
