hey, i have a bit of a wierd question. right now i have a 91 honda civic with 1.5l engine and automagic transmission (yeah, automagic is the same as automatic, i just think automagic is funnier), anyways, i am planning on upgrading to a sohc zc engine and possibly a 5 speed manual, which is where my question begins... how difficult is it (and is it possible at all) to convert a car with an automatic to one with a manual trans? keep in mind that this is my daily driven work car, so it can sit and be worked on for a couple of days, but not for an 8 month 10,00 man hour project.
thanks

for the time, etc, involved, ur better off keeping that auto as a daily and find another civic with a 5-speed to work on with ur engine swap, etc.

not to hijack, but are engine swaps worth doing in an automatic? is it harder to do?

I am about to do one on a 91 DX hatch...it doesnt seem all that hard to do. Just swap pedals, linkage, and do some minor wiring.

I've seen it done & completed, car still drives,
but like ice_x said,
your probably better off buying a new car with manual tranny,
you can find a civic hatchback all day long on ebay for as low as 400 to 800,
I think theres one on classifieds for 800 an SI,not a bad deal at all,
but it can be done.

i think itz pedals linkage, might as well swap cluster, tranny mount, gotta have clutch, to bearing, pilot bearing, i think u have to either cut the hole more or have to cover it up some...can't remember....that's about all i can think of
