Co2 o N2o for Freezing Intercooler?

I thinking about freezing my intercooler using N2O or CO2.

What do you think could give me best results? N2O or CO2?

Which one produce cooler effect?

What kind of intercooler are you running? water to air or air to air intercooler?

Personally, I would go with CO2, it's cheaper than N2O. Also, you could use compressed oxygen for the same effect and it is even cheaper to refill.

As far is results go, I don't think you see a difference between the three.

i would say go with n2o just because if your going to be spraying a gas under your hood (possibly near your intake) it might as well be a gas that is rich in oxygen. Im pretty sure co2 doesnt promote combustion. correct me if im wrong.

And you're right about CO2, it doesn't promote combustion AT ALL. That's why they (used to) make CO2 fire extinguishers....

I just bought a bottle of CO2, I coudn't find a N2O bottle here in Uruguay.

But now I've a bigger problema

Co2 bottle have 160 Bar pressure. I couldn't find a solenoid to this preassure :(

Can I reduce this pressure to 15 Bar and get the same cooling results?

well i said it doesnt promote combustion because n20 does and thats a good thing to have your intake sucking up.

compressed oxygen would be the best choice, obviously, but im not so sure its the best thing to have under your hood, you know, in case you crash.

N2O its self downt promote combustion. When Heat is added it decomposses into N2 and 02

2M N2O ----> 2M N2 + 1M O2

this rises the ammount of oxygen in the cylender allows more fule and there for more power.

N2O also is cold when it decompresses, as all things matter. This cools the intake charge. If yo uare going to use N20 to cool your intercooler, for its price, you might as well be shooting a 20-40 shot post intercooler. it will show far superior cooling effects.

CO2 does not promote combustion, at least not at the tempatures reached in your average ottocycle engine.

Pure O2 is more expensive than CO2 but cheaper than N20. however, pure O2 will make a haven for combustion. Not ideal. but if yo uwant to try it, you can have your bottle filled anywhere welding supplies are sold. the better idea would be oxygen inriched air. instead of the normal 27% Oxygen, its like 50% oxygen, yo uwill get the same effect, any oxygen that leaks into your intake will help you, just may raise combustion tempatures a tad.
or
you could jsut use compressed air, it wont be as cold as N2O or CO2 or O2 or O2 enriched Air....but it will be colder than the ambieant air tempautre. now im not saying have an onboard air compressor, im saying bottle up your own air and let the air in the bottles cool to ambient, then use them in your car.

who syas you need a solinoid? yes you can use a restricter valve but why not have it manually controlled, that way it is when you want it to be.

CO2 is proven to work hella well on intercoolers, 50% tempature reduction, im not kidding. we tried it out on a turbo Vr4. w/o CO2 intake temp was 114 F. with CO2 intake temp was 61 F. when we installed and did a non running test ice crystals formed on the intercooler... the car was wrecked before we had a couple of dyno runs.

releasing compressed oxygen into a warm engine bay is a good way to start a nice hot and uncontrollable fire.

Nitrous Oxide is better because if the intake picks some up thats good as opposed to picking up CO2 which would be bad.

just let if go free. we arent trying to refridgerate your intecooler here, just coll it down a it to improve its efficency for a while. plus if N2O or O2 inriched air is used there is a good chance come ill leak into your intake.
