radar signs

ok why is it when ever i go buy a radar sign it always says im goin gf miles slower than what my speedometer says? so if that is my actual speed is that what the cops see when they hit me with radar/laser?

it could be your speedo is off.... or the radar is off... I know that cops use tuning forks to make sure that their radar is on... but if it's consistant... then my guess is it's your speedo.

Our speedos are not as accurate as a speed detector. Figure out what your real speed is, higher or lower, and adjust driving past a cop as not to speed.

mine says im going 3mph faster than im really am.

I'm 5 over with 18's... Not sure if that has anything to do with it though.

tire size changes gear ratio, and throws off your speedo. I had a programer for my truck i had when i had 20s on it. my speedo was like all crazy before the programer.

Don't bigger wheels make the speedo slower or is it the other way around.

yeah but you are really going faster than what it says, my friend put bigger tires on his truck and he is going 8 miles faster than his speedometer reads

I would say you are correct; however, radar says its 5mph less than what I'm going.

wheel size doesnt matter. what matter is the tire size. i forget the formula but basicly you need to figure out the circumference of your tire and then there are sites that will tell you the speedo difference.
that said its probably not your tires making the speedometer inaccurate. its probably just that the stock speedo isnt very good
