Someone help.....my jeep starts when it is cold but after it runs for a while it will crank but not start. I can however push it off and it will start every time. I smell gas so I know that is not the problem I have been told it is maybe the crank position sensor some one help. duanehortman@yahoo.com

Is it the 4.0? Does it quit while running? When you say it won't start, is it cranking over when you turn the key? You said you can push start it...... a bit more info please.

It is a 2.5 4 cylinder when started it will run all day and will not quit however when I switch it off it will crank over but not start. When it is cold it will crank and start with the key. But when it is warm I can only push start it.

That's really funky; sounds like an electrical issue, something on the starter maybe, that fails when it gets hot. Dale would likely know....

When it starts hard, look at your warning lights through the steering wheel. There should be a red square lit up that says CHECK ENGINE. Make sure that red square appears everytime you turn the key ON, not trying to start it, just when you turn the key on. If it's not there, that means your PCM is bad and you need to get that replaced. Hope this helps!!!!
