Hey guys, Im planning to race a 1990 civic with a DOHC ZC engine, with a 4-2-1 exhaust, PM7 ECU, cold air intake, with my 94 integra ls which has K&N air filter and performance muffler on it. I want to know if i should put money on the race, who u think would win, and if u think i would surely lose then what i should do to give me an edge... thanks a lot guys

Don't race for $ if you don't know the capabilities of your own car. Expecially don't come on a forum and ask for people to guess. Because that's all people will be able to do, guess. And there is no such thing as a "performance muffler". You're not going to get performance out of just a muffler. Think about it, how does something at the end of your pipe help air flow? Race him for fun or don't race him at all, until you know what your car can do.

I agree with CivicSpoon, don't race for money. Usually when you have a "performance muffler" it's on an entire exhaust system. When you have that entire exhaust system upgraded, a performance muffler would make a difference.

Ya... you guys are right i should just do this one for fun... so to take advantage of my aftermarket muffler i should put a performance header and highflow cat converter in there? is there anything else im missing on the exhaust? and do u think the ebay ones would be good enough or for that kinda thing should i go for DC? thanks so much guys

is there anything else im missing on the exhaust?

the rest of ur exhaust piping, ur exhaust is only as good as the most restrictive part...

Exactly.

I must really sound like a newbie asking this... but what would the rest of the piping that i need to complete my exhaust be called? appreciate ur help, thanks again.

it'd be called a cat back since you need the piping from the cat to the back of the car.

The path of air flow is roughly this:
Intake->Throttle Body->Intake Manifold->Engine->Exhaust Manifold(Header)->Catalitic Converter(Cat)->Cat Back Piping->Muffler.
What Bilson8or said about the system being only as good as the most restricitve part is right.
The idea is to keep the whole system in sync and open up airflow to "free up" horse power.
