Ok my clutch just went out on my car and i had to get the clutch. But i was wondering if you guys can tell me what is the first thing i should get for my car?

I was just wondering should i get catback or downpipe first??? which one gives u more hp?

My budget is about $1000 for now.

My car is a 1997 VR-4 with 69500miles.

What do u guys think?

I suggest reading the mod guides in the FAQ...definantly do the downpipe first if performance is your main concern. The stock downpipe is restrictive, while the stock catback is 2.75" and good for up to 500hp and 11sec 1/4s already. I'm not saying that upgrading catbacks is worthless...you will gain hp from it, but you'll get more from the downpipe and gutting your precats...this is all in the FAQ

What dose "gutting your precats" mean?
Where is the Precat and what is it and what mods can i do to it to get HP from it?
Is precats the test-pipe and high flow cat?

or do a search, as this has been addressed quite a few times.

manual boost controller and a boost guage is the easiest, cheapest way to get hp from a stock car. this will only cost you a few $$$ (less than $50 if you look around) and will result in about 50 hp more to first gen cars and 30 hp more to second gen cars. do not take it above 14.5 psi if you are otherwise stock.

and i agree, do a search or check the FAQ next time for easy, common questios like this next time ;)
