RPM/Fuel Needles

I own a 00 GP GT 38k miles, just purchased from a dealer.

On the RPM and Fuel needles, is it normal for them to jump ever so slightly when idle?

I am just curious if it is an electircal issue or if it is completely normal for them to jump a tad.

The RPM does it mostly, but I could be seeing things with the Fuel since I am hypersensitive after buying it.

One more thing:

Should terrain be a huge issue with fuel economy?

I am figuring with my mileage since filling up, I am getting a tad over 16mpg. I live in Omaha, Nebraska which is fairly hilly.

When driving in city and highway, it's not uncommon to stay in the 2000's for RPMs. I could be heavy on the gas too. I am a former Ford owner, and they ahve stiff gas pedals.

I will probably have my buddy teach me how to look at the fuel filter. I am really wanting to learn how to take care of cars since I didn't give a c**p about my last truck and this is my new baby and all.

Ive got a 97 and it dose not do it.Sounds like you should have the dealer look into it since you just bought it.It should have a 90 day warranty.

I will probably have my buddy teach me how to look at the fuel filter. I am really wanting to learn how to take care of cars since I didn't give a c**p about my last truck and this is my new baby and all.

I'm just gonna have the O2 sensor checked first before checking the fuel filter. My RPM gague jumps less than 100 at times and with the gas mileage added into that, sounds like the engine is running rich and it could be an O2 sensor problem.

Its cheaper to start with the fuel filter :wink: but if you are going to replace the front O2 either go with one from GM/AC-Delco or one from NAPA,DO NOT USE A BOSCH to many problems with them on our cars.
