hey im about to purchase (around christmas time) a new cam kit from comp cams its their k kit that comes w/ everything (cam, lifters, springs, retainers, chain, and valve seats) and i was wondering how much u guys think it will cost...i know i can just call but i got some time and was just wondering your opinions so that they dont try and rip me off since i dont know how hard it is or how long it takes. im also getting some hedman headers (shorties) and a tbi to carb adapter and edelbrock performer intake (for carbs) and should be able to install these myself. do u guys think these will really help my power alot also or am i gonna be disapointed... i already have three inch pipes and will have a three inch y pipe soon, i also have an open element air cleaner so besides my tbi unit i should be able to move ample amounts of air easily after these mods right...by the way i live in lex, ky if that helps estimate my cost for installation

i have a 91 and im not goin from tbi to carb im goin to buy an adapter so that i can bolt up a carb intake since the tbi intake edelbrock offers has very small bores (stock size) and would be restrictive when i get the holley 670 tbi unit i want, plus the carb manifolds are alot cheaper

First of all, unless you really know someone. Your gonna get hit over the head for installing it. (costs ALOT) they have to ofcourse tear the motor down a bit to get to where they need too. Took the guy that did mine all day. I would take your time on getting someone to install it. You have a local forum where you live? Make freinds, get them to do it and help out and learn. down here we have parties. everyone works, someone buys beer, or pizza. Its fun. Also, get Long Tubes. Shorties wont do you much justice

I had FLP long tubes, and FLP's came with a after market(3inch) Y-pipe and high flow cats, and coated. Yes, any LT's will fit with a y-pipe. When you get LT's or any headers for that matter, your gonna want a 3inch or 4inch y-pipe. And yes, they make a 4 inch y-pipe. I know a girl with one, on her LS1. Try thunder racing. as far as the cam. We took off my K&N cold air system. Had to disconect my AC, then recharge it when it was done. Hell I actuly didnt do it, I was there, and the guy did it. I cant remember what all was taken off. Dont rush into gettign a cam yet. Its a good idea, but you need to talk to a gear head that has your motor, and knows whats best for what your wanting. YOu can get a bad cam depending on....again what your looking for. If I can help in any other way. PM me. I know alot of guys that know more about it that I do

Just call for a cam. They will put every detail about your car into consideration when picking out your cam. You can get cams from Lunati, Crane Cams, Comp cams, and some others. Leave your bumpstick to the professionals.
