Hi, thanks for checking out my question.
Vehicle: 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 360 8 cyl. 4X4
Problem: Starting and running oddly.
Description: At start-up, will not fire right away. Takes approx. 15 seconds of cranking to fire. After starting runs for about 10 more seconds before dying fast. Will do this 3 or 4 times before staying running usually after I have done a lot of fancy footwork on the gas pedal. Will idle for a while until fast idle kicks down. Then, might stay running, might chug to a stop. After on the road, will quit when coming to stop or turning while moving slowly. Sometimes will run nicely down highway. Last night, went 30 miles on highway, came to a stop sign and it wanted to quit again. When accelerating again, it was dogging bigtime and bucking like a horse (I changed fuel filter yesterday morning). Finally after 2 miles of dogging, it bucked twice and then cleared right up, shooting me forward, necessitating me letting off a lot on the gas. Ran all the way home (15 miles) beautifully. When I got home, it ran rough again in town before quitting entirely as I drove in the driveway. Started the same again this morning.
-Oil pressure is inconsistent:runs between 0 and 60 on gauge.
-Plugs are new as of 5 months ago.
-Small amount of blow-by for as long as I've had it.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

What ignition system does it have? I had a Prestolite system on a 258 give me the same problem. It could be a bad ground wire in the distributor, a failing ignition pickup or module, a bad coil or loose wires on it, or even a bad body ground. It sure sounds electrical, even your oil pressure fluctuations could be due to bad grounding.
