Crank sensor location?

Does anyone know where the crank sensor is located on a 96 2.4 quad 4. I cant find it anywhere. I would have thought it would be on the front, or back of the engine close to the ballancer. This is the same car Ive been working on with a crank no start problem. I found two broke wires in the same loom that holds the speed sensor wires. If anyone could tell me its location I would greatly appreciate it.
