When starting car I would turn the key and get the "click". Would turn the key again and car would crank. One day it wouldn't crank but just click, battery died. Replaced battery but the clicking problem continued. Replaced the solenoid and it still has the clicking problem. So, anytime I start the car it could take from one to three key turns before the car will crank. A friend checked to see if alternator was charging(?) and said the current seemed to be fine. If there was a problem with the starter would it still make the click? Just looking for suggestions before I drop any more cash on something that may not be the problem. Thanks.

sounds like the starter if you have replaced the selenoid, battery and checked the alternator. I'd pull the starter out and take it to autozone or oreilly's and have them test it. if thats not it, then its the ignition.
