I'm getting ready to put on a 3.4 pulley this weekend. How much of difference will it make in 1/4 time? 0-60? I have 104's, CAI, 180 T stat, new wires, and new s/c coupler. Estimated HP?

the 3.4" pulley really does make that much of a difference. And it is one of the cheapest and easyest mods you can make. But still when i went looking for info on this (before i found this forum) i found people saying that the smaller pulley put too much strain on the S/C possibly causing premature failure, and that there were better ways to go for the money.
And as we all know that is TOTAL BS. When i think back, i cant believe that someone would say that. For my money the 3.4" (or slightly smaller) is the best first mod.
ps. ad a cone filter or CAI with that pulley and youll be a happy camper.

The smallest you want to go with on a stock GTP would be a 3.4,any thing much smaller then that it will pick up even more KR (Knock Retard)....back in the day,all we could get for our cars was a 3.5 pulley and the hot thing to do was find some dual tips off of a grand am :screwy: ,not much offered back then.
The best order to start is with a CAI or FWI to help the increased airflow,U-bend delete then the pulley and to match it all up with either a DHP or Intense PCM.Thats a nice start, but by that time the mod bug will have hit and it will be time for a cam, rockers, headers, intercooler and so on and so on

i want to install a VS cam on the 97 gtp i am gunna be getting, but i heard that it cost hella loot for the labor of putting on in.... 300-400 $ is not much for the HP gain you get from a cam, but i hear its like anywhere from 300-600$ for labor charges since most the time you have to pull engine and break it down????

Finally got the pulley installed! Wow!! What a difference it makes!! Can't wait to do the U-Bend delete and looking at a PCM. Which one is better? They all seem the same. Is one better that the other??

DHP sux, harder shifts then the INTENSE wears your tranny faster. when your driving between 30-40MPH and you enter WOT(you floor the gas) it drops from 2nd gear to first gear, hmmm that has to be good on the tranny. All i can say is that INTENSE is better and cheaper. I just installed mine about a week ago and i love it. The customer support through INTENSE-RACING.com is phenominal.

You know, I had both. Gave the Intese away, to someone I didn't like.
Cass had his intense gave out. Sent him my spare DHP. He likes it a lot.
You know there nothing saying you have to kick it in the ass all the time. And when I do, I want the power. Down shifting into first at 30 MPH hasn't hurt my trans a bit.
Oh by the way, put mine into my GTP about a year and a half ago. Still works well, and so do the trans.

well, thats good for you, honestly it is, glad that your tranny hasn't gave out. Honestly though, you cant possibly think that dropping down into first gear when going into WOT at 30-40 doesn't hurt the tranny.???? i mean i know everytime you install a mod or floor your car and get on it, technically it takes a lil life off your tranny, but i think there would be a significant increase in tranny failure with that option. There are many testimonials on INTENSE with people who had DHP and say intense is better, but i guess you and cass or testimonials to DHP, so it goes to preference i suppose. It just seems like DHP is overpriced, and i dont think they can match the customer support that intense offers. BTW you can get like 4 different stages of the INtesnse PCM depending on how modded out your GP is, and if you wanna upgrade it only cost 99$ or for 269$ you can tell them every thing you want done and they program it right into the PCM, i think that is awsome

Let me ask you something. When you take off from a light and stay on it. When does your car shift? Mine around 58. The reason for adding all this stuff to our cars is we don't want to lose when we get on it.
I will run any car on this site with a Intense from a 30 mile an hour roll. Catch me if you can.
But maybe that why they don't make just one kind.
You also know Intesnse is selling their codes. They are a lot of them running around with the name. And when they crap out, yes, your screwed.

what you mean selling them, call me ignorant, but whats that got to do with me, i ordered mine from their site. O yes, when i take off from a light WOT my car shifts at 6,000, enough arguing, its just preference i guess.
