Please excuse this "non Astro' related question. I have been helped a number of times with my Astro here, and I just wanted to get some of the knowledgable advice the folks here have. I've got a 1988 Mazda 626 that I put a brand new "out of the crate" engine in. I also put a new transmission in it and spent other money as well. I had it for my son to drive before he went into the Navy. This was right at 2 years ago. The car drove and ran like a new car. He was driving it one day, and he later told me that when he tried to pass someone or run at higher speeds that the car acted as if it wanted to stall. He was afraid I would be mad at him and hold him responsible for messing something up, so instead of letting me know(the new engine and trans had about 2000 new miles on it then), he took it to Western Auto as his friend father owned the place. They tried to fix it and thought it was; I think he said a fuel regulator or something similar to that. They couldn't fix it there and my son ended up having to tell me about it, so I had it towed to our house. The place that did the engine and transmission install did a great job, and I've been going there for a long time. A new person was put in charge of the company, and I stopped going there after being over charge on another car. My main question is this though; The car has been sitting for 2 years without being started, and now I want to get the car ready to drive again. I had planned on that being my last vehicle because I drive my Astro to work and I don't really drive many miles at all after that. What do I do as far as starting the car(if it will start) because obviouly no oil is in the cylinders walls, ect. Someone else suggested unplugging the coil wire and turning it over to let the oil be thrown up on the needed areas before actually trying to start the car. Forgive the long winded post. I just didn't want to ruin a car I'd put so much money in. Thanks.
