Okay heres the story.......My cutlass Supreme won't start. The Battery is new. It seems like the starter is functioning as well. I just replaced the ignition module and checked the coils. They seem to be working as well. Any ideas. Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get a fuel pressure guage. A cheap one is about $40. Also get an injector "noid" light that plugs into injector harness to see if the PCM is capable of toggling the injector on and off. You should be able to get these things at your local auto part store or even sears. Also while you are at it, buy a test spark plug for testing for spark. They have an alligator clip attached to the side of it to provide a path to ground and a recessed center electrode. You could buy all this stuff and still be money ahead of taking it in for repairs. Also buy a service manual for your year model while you are at it. Just remember, you need 4 things for an engine to run: Fuel, Air, Compression, and Spark. Which one are you missing? Then after that you still need to find that cause.

whats it do when you try to start it? I have a 94 and have been having the fickle starting problem...will be ok for a couple of weeks -no problems starting and then I'll go weeks where it won't start at times. I'll get a click, and battery power seems fine. So then if I wait...5-10 mintues it will start or won't because I'm not always getting enough amps to the starter. Posted this on another thread and was told to check the battery cable for loss of contact.

2 things to look for, check the cable going to the crank sensor and the crank sensor itself. This is the twisted 2 wire cable the plugs into the lower left side of the ignition module. If you have a ohmmeter, you will see about 3000 ohms between the 2 wires if I remember correct.
By the way, if you need to replace the crank sensor you may want to look at some of the other previous posts for advice. it isnt a "fun" job!

Then, carefully check the 6 wire plug that is just above it on the module I had problems where this connecter didnt make good connection on the ignition module, the result was the car would not start, nor will the injecters inject fuel.
as far as checking the fuel, there is a valve relief that is between the 2 fuel rails where it can be checked. Be carefull opening this, make sure the ignition is OFF. when you press on the valve, Fuel can come out fast!
