I just found this on EBAY. It's called an XM Direct. Has anyone tried this kit yet?

Your factory reciever is XM ready correct? If it is, you really have no need for this unit, everything should already be there. If your reciever is not XM ready, then you need the external display and such, or you can buy an aftermarket XM ready reciever that will eliminate the need for the extra display also. I didn't explain this very good, so it might not make sense.

My radio is XM ready, but the receiver is not there, or the antenna. It looks like this would plug right in, and I would be able to receive XM. I really don't want an aftermarket unit, or an add on piece.

I haven't personally played with one of these yet, but it looks like it'll work just fine. All you can do is give it a try. It seems kind of pricey though, I guess because its factory equipment.

I have the exact thing he is talking about. Works flawlessly with the stock radio. You do NOT get a radio as pictured in the auciton, you get a Terk XM tuner w/ antenna, and a little modulator that lets you plug the xm tuner's audio cables into your stock radio.

I got mine from www.myradiostore.com.

GM also has a different kit that is MUCH more difficult to install, and mandates drilling the roof for the antenna! Not to mention the MSRP is like $450 for the GM kit, vs. $300 for this one.

Took me about 45 mins to install, all you have to do is pull dash bezel, pull radio, stick the modulator behind it, plug it in, stick the receiver somewhere (I put mine behind the glovebox), run the wires, put it back together, and turn it on! Includes magnetic roof mount antenna. I ran the wire for it out through the weatherstripping near the passenger door hinge, up in between the inner and outter layers of weatherstripping to the top rear of the passenger door, up through the outer weatherstripping there, and mounted on the roof about 1' from that location.

Once installed, the band button changes your radio from FM to AM to XM, and all XM controls are the same as for FM.

Also, another good place to run the antenna wire, as I have mine done, is under the headliner, and come out behind the 3rd brake light. Works wonderfully, and is easy to center up on the top of the truck. Also only about 1" of wire showing.

I took out the brake light, stuck in the antenna ends, pulled them under the headliner, and down the rear pillar on the passenger side. Only took about 10 minutes. My reciever is under the passenger seat also. I can take pics if you need them, or are just curious to see how it looks.
