Models that no longer exist...

Hi. Due to me being an extremely stupid, uncaring and selfish individual, the models pictured below are no longer in existence. I just thought I would share. Please feel no pity for me. I deserved it. I still have the rest of my collection of builts and unbuilts so life goes on. No questions please. I've learned my lesson and must move on. :disappoin :banghead:

Pity on such beautiful subjects, even if you told us not to I can't help feeling a bit sad anyway. We just have to be glad that you have some pics left and shared them with us.
RIP, beautiful ones

That's a shame.

On a positive note you now should have lots of seats and wheels and other cool parts to use on future builds.

Okay, no pity party but let's have a Model Destructor's Anonymous meeting in it's place. .

Hi, I'm Bob. I've destroyed a model. I've managed to only let that happen once a number of years ago, it was a doozy. I was beyond pissed. It was a gorgeous model, very unique, in a great color that a friend had given me from a 1:1 car in his shop. For an odd reason, I still hold no remorse for my action. It was swift, the destruction was catastrophic, and I actually felt better afterwards. I plead the fifth as to what precipitated the anger. It was trivial.

The wheels lived on, they were salvaged at the time reside on a model I built as a gift for one of my best friends.

This year I found a headlight lense from it, still embedded into the concrete block. Even though the lense was clear and rather thick, it had seriously deep gouges from the impact. And I laughed.

Remembering the episode has kept other models from a similar fate. And kept my quick-tempered sanity relatively intact at times that it might otherwise have gone over the edge.

Keep the faith! You still planning on coming to visit us in January? If so, let us know, we should plan an A/F lunch beforehand or something.

fool you for not having anger control, to be honest i used to smash the ones i built that looked terrible, should have kept them, every model is part of the learning process. you learn your modelling skills the hard way, some good, some bad. it's life.
p.s. i dont pity you at all.

First, I wasn't the one that did the smashing. Second, I didn't post this for "pity" . Third, I couldn't agree with you more on the statement below...

12-07-2004, 04:26 PM
Tonio I am very sad to hear this as ive been there myself. About 7 years ago i used to collect Mech and Techno Spawns (20 or so) and built about 15 mech models. it was a faze im out of now but there was alot of time and investment in that collection. I went through a divorce and when she said take your stupid toys with you i threw them all on the ground and jumped up and down on them for 5 minutes and left the house. all i remember were little robot arms and legs everywhere. its funny now but i do miss them from time to time. but dispite the childlike behavior i did learn alot and actually grew from the experience. i hope you do the same.

p.s. next time your angry or in a fight or what ever happened.... just ship the models to me, illl take care of them hehehe tough luck kiddo...

Hey tonio - that's a shame, your models inspire me just as they have others. Oh well. I guess the good thing about the hobby is that it's more the process of building, not as much the product that brings us happiness. Just don't get so down that you don't get back on the horse. And thanks for the silver lining, CADguy. We can count on you for that!

im sorry dude, i know how it feels to loose a model, but in your case several, it feels like a good couple of months or longer of your life that you spent building those went down the drain. to bad im poor id help you replace some, but anyways good luck on more great builds, not that you need the luck of course...

... or a child

We still don't know the story, we are all devising what have happend. Maybe it's too personal so I understand you don't what to explain that on a forum. If this is a consequence of a mistake you made, now you know you won't do it again. If this happend in a histeria attack, next time, buy a kickbag and let him/her (the one who smashed those beauties) hit it instead of your models.

Don't know what else to say, even if you ask for no pity I can't feel anything else.

Without going too far into detail, I was insensititive to the feelings of another person although I didn't see it that way at the time. I do wish she would've smashed my CD's instead :crying: !! I do believe that all things can be worked out in time so I shall eventually return to my bench and continue to create more "plastic art" along with the rest of you :sunglasse . I would like to thank everyone for the tremendous amount of support shown to me because it is a strong reminder of why I choose to make AF my internet modelling home!! You all are an awesome bunch!! :sunglasse :sunglasse :sunglasse

Women just know how to hit you where it hurts, even a kick in the nuts would have been a better option compared with the fact she would be well aware of the effort you put into your models, which is exactly why she did what she did, sorry man know just how you feel.

I'm glad to hear this didn't deter you from building! :) We'll look forward to viewing the new cars that take thier place!

I think I would of much rather received 11 of these. :nutkick: Than to have my models turned to rubble. To much heart goes into every single one of these builds.

Believe me, he got plenty of these :nutkick: by default from the pile of rubble. Maybe he should send the pieces to GTMike to have him make a permanent collage/memorial. Part of me is kidding, but part of me is not. Taken in the right context, it could be pretty cool and somewhat healing; an artistic expression of an emotional event. We're not just model builders, we're artists, and sometimes art isn't always inspired by the ordinary.

99civichic
12-09-2004, 05:17 PM
If someone had done something like that to me, there would be no working it out. To me, it seems extremely selfish and immature, and completely pointless. I know I don't know the whole story, but no matter how bad things get, you shouldn't destroy someone's art. I mean, what if Da Vinci had a girlfriend and she got pissed at him and burned the Mona Lisa? That just ain't cool. I'm sorry that it happened to you, but if you feel that it's worth working things out, then good luck with that. I would strongly suggest some sort of counseling. Ever seen The War of the Roses? The lady ends up killing his dog!

tonioseven
12-09-2004, 05:22 PM
Heh, actually it's given me a whole new outlook on building! I bought 2 Levin kits at the same time and I recovered the wheels from it so that one will be reincarnated only with a few variations.:) I have lots of Skyline kits so that's not a problem either:sunglasse. I made this thread to help others learn from my mistake: keep your models out of sight whenever you feel an argument coming!!!:p Life goes on!!!:sunglasse
