Have you checked the connections inside the harness? Sometimes the pins in the harness can become loose and it will cause it to trip a CEL. I would disconnect the 8 pin connector and measure resistance between the 2 terimals that are the 2nd in from the right if you are looking at the connector with the tab facing up. Now they will be ontop of each other, ie the 2nd one in from the right on top and the 2nd in from the right on bottom. There should be 350-700 ohms. If not then the new distributor is bad and you need to take it back for a new one. Now if there is continuity measure both of the same pins to body ground on at a time. If there is contiunity then the distributor is bad. If you don't have the continuity to body ground then you can go to the ECU and look for 2 wires, one is orange with a blue stripe and the other is white with a blue stripe. You will measure resistance between these two wires, you should have between 350-700 ohms. If not, and you had 350-700 ohms at the distributor then you have a loose connection or a broken wire between the ECU and the distributor. If this is the case you will need to trace the wire from the ecu to the distributor and look for any damage, then repare the damage.

Good luck.
