1994 Bravada difficult shifting

My 1994 has 201K miles on it. I changed filter and fluid 60 days ago.

The other day I noticed it started to experience a hard time shifting from second to third during a casual acceleration. The first shift seems normal, then the second shift struggles to find the next gear. Once it shifts, everything functions normally. The symptoms could be explained as a stumble and sudden loss of power and then an instant acceleration when it does shift.

The real strange thing is that if you are at a stop and real get on the pedal it seems to shift properly without any issues.

Downshifting seems find and operating normally.

Any ideas on things to check?

Congrats on your 201K. That's reliable proof of your faithfull attention to proper maintenence and care. If you bought it new, you'll get your $30G's out of it with that kind of dedication. I figure 300K will be 10 cents a mile and a fair value.
The motor stumble kinda indicates a miss during a fuel "lean" condition which dissappears when you get aggressive with the throttle during the fuel "not lean" condition. A leaky EGR valve will lean out your already lean condition too. How long since your last tune-up...wires & plugs and such?

I was thinking the exact same thing as I was browsing ALLDATA today (i.e. fuel issue and not tranny issue)

Plugs and wires 50K miles ago. Pulled a used EGR off of a Chevy Blazer about 6 months ago when mine wouldn't stop setting codes (32). I also put in the gasket with the screen in when installing it (what a moment of brilliance from the guy who invented that piece).

I put in a new CPI octopus about 3 months ago. I have had problems with the switch connector outside of the plenum which hooks the wires heading to the octopus. By wiggling them, I was able to get the engine to quit. I am out of electrical grease in my garage so I will pick some up tomorrow and clean all the connections and put some grease in them and reconnect to see if that fixes the issue.

The EGR on my '92 will stick due to stuff on the plug valve stem. By working the plug valve, mine eventually frees up and lasts quite a while.
Your injector wire find is good work, hope that solves your problem...I'm adding that to my bag of tricks :>)
I recently checked the timing chain on my '92 because of the milage and no other reason, 177K , and found it to still be in good shape but replaced it anyway. It was a steel chain & steel gear. The balance shaft gears were in great shape too.

Slick 50 at 64K + 1 cup added to Kendall High Perf. ever since.
