i wrestled last year... i went 32-11. not bad for my first year i guess. stick with it for four years you'll defintely be a lot better if you do. don't think your going to get a scholarship to college just for winning one tournament your freshman year, keep working hard and keep winning and you never know. what state are you in?

well, you never told me what state your in, some states are much more competitive than others... you're not going to know how good you really are until after your sophomore, or junior year in high school. wait and see how you progress, but keep working hard.

ill try keep updated and hopefully other people will reply on their experience

i wrestled all through school and you can get a scholarship by winning one tournament your freshmen year. its called STATE!! i wrestled in Oklahoma. and anybody who knows anything about wrestling knows Oklahoma State is to wrestling what Oklahoma is to football. 100% Dominant. It IS the most competetive state. more people from Oklahoma win nationals then any other state.

a buddy of mine got herpes on his arms mostly... he's pretty sure he got it at the state meet 2 years ago(they don't appear for 1-3 months after infection)... wrestling is a pretty gross sport when it comes to skin diseases but if you sanitize the mats properly you shouldn't have to quit because of it

Me too man. This kid had it on his stomach and didn't tell anyone so he infected like 10 people. I wrestled for four years and four different weight classes. I wasn't really in it for the competition so much as I was the conditioning provided. I wrestled in Illinois, and if anyone here also wrestled in Illinois, have you heard of Mahomet-Seymour?

I wrestled my senior year in HS. A loooong time ago. I was never very good @ it, my coach sucked, but it did toughen me up! It tought me never to quit, no matter how bad things get.
Oh and buy the way, make sure you guys take a shower after practice! With soap! Don’t wait till you get home. That’s the best way to reduce skin infections.
