rod bearings

I am swapping a Bluebird DET into my P10. I know that I should replace the rod bearings, and I also know that there are 3 grades of bearings, but has anyone tried an aftermarket bearing, or know if this might be a good idea? I ask because I will get the engine on Friday, and I'll be doing the rodbearings on Saturday, but if I have to wait for the dealership bearings, I won't get them until Monday. Or I could just go with an aftermarket bearing (they only come in one grade), and get them on Friday...sorry if I'm confusing, but any advice?

Don't be a monkey. This is no time to be impatient. Get the factory bearings and measure them using Plastigauge as shown in my SCC article.
Besides, I've be really surprised if anyone had aftermarket bearings in stock for the SR20. I work for a major aftermarket replacement parts company and we don't carry much for domestics, let alone imports. Even if someone has the aftermarket in stock, just do it right and get the OEM.
Why spend all this money just to screw it up?

Ok, point well taken. Thanks a lot, I'll do it right and with patience. Just a sidenote, a shop up here had an aftermarket set in stock...they said that basically, they were machined to just the middle grade bearing size (#1 I believe?). Anyways, thanks for the advice.

Smart move. The SR20 engine has bearing clearances measured to the ten-thousandths of an inch.
