Heated mirrors

I recently traded my 2wd in for a 02 4wd and it has the option of the heated mirrors with the back window defrost. and Last week we had the first heavy snow this year and I noticed that the driver side mirror doesnt defrost but the back and the passanger side does work. Anyone have any ideas on what to look for? Can you take the mirror apart and maybe find a resistor burnt or something? Thanks for your input.

I too have an '02 where the drivers side appears to not work. However, I do know that you can get replacements at any autoglass replacement shop. I would first try cleaning the leads that are on the back of the mirror, or look to make sure it's connected. You'll want to be careful prying the backing plate, as you could crack the mirror. Tilt the mirror so you can see behind, you'll notice the plastic teeth that are grabbing the motor housing. Pry gently, and it should pop off. Replacement will probably cost you $40-50, so try not to break it. If you do need a new one, the part number for the most popular supplier (Burco) is RED2734H.

Great, thanks for letting us know. Now, what did they mean by 'switch'? The actual switch in the dash that controls both the mirrors and backglass?

Im guessing just in the drivers side mirror?
as my right mirror and rear window heat well.

Hope this helps out.

Thanks a bunch. I bought my truck used in May, I guess I'll have to see if the dealer will work with me, since they went over it with a fine tooth comb, and it's obviously impossible to test the heated mirrors then. Thanks again, and Happy Holidays!
